Mosques serve as places of worship for Arabs in the United Arab Emirates, who adhere to Islam as their primary religion. The Jumeirah Mosque is the only mosque in Dubai that is open to the general public. A guided tour of the mosque will provide you with a better understanding of the Emirati religion and its traditions. Important reminder: Before entering the mosque (called in Arabic as “masjid”), make sure you are dressed appropriately. Make sure your clothes covers your legs and shoulders, even if it is rather hot in Dubai at the moment.

From the outside, the views are breathtaking, and it is entertaining to see how far you can stretch your neck to reach the very pinnacle of the tower. If you want to feel like you’re on top of the world, the Burj Khalifa provides visits to the observation decks on levels 124 and 125. Taking in the sights of the city from above is an amazing experience that you should not pass up if your budget permits it!

People Watch at The Dubai Mall

Next, pay a visit to The Dubai Mall! With some of the world’s most costly boutique labels housed in its halls, the shopping mall is one of the largest in the world.

While those may be out of reach for the average traveler’s budget, the mall does provide two attractions that are absolutely free of charge: the aquarium and the dancing fountains (shown).

Aquarium in the Dubai Mall

In this aquarium, you may observe around 300 sharks and rays, as well as thousands of different sea species, among other things. It is very incredible to be able to observe such magnificent creatures up close! However, because to the fact that it is free, the area in front of the aquarium is often packed, making it difficult to find a location where you can get a decent view. Cost:Free!

See a Dancing Fountain Show near the Dubai Mall

Because it is located just in front of the Burj Khalifa, guests may enjoy a breathtaking view of this renowned structure as well. Every 30 minutes during the nights, these programs will take place. However, I must say that growing up in the United Arab Emirates has provided me with many unforgettable memories, and I still stop by and have a look at these exhibitions whenever I am at The Dubai Mall.

Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard

If you have the luxury of leisure, I recommend taking a stroll down the pathway that runs beside Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard. As a resident of Dubai, I strongly advise you to visit this location even if you only have a brief layover in the city since it truly encapsulates the “feel” of the city. Once the sun sets, it appears as though the city comes to life, and there are several eateries to discover as you stroll. Mezza House is one of my favorite restaurants on the street, and Karak House is a great place to stop for tea if you’re in the mood for it.

The location is also fantastic for people watching, so I like to sit there and work with a cup of coffee from time to time.

Transportation in Dubai on a Budget

You might want to consider using the Al Ras Metro, which will take you to several of the locations on this route. In addition, ride-sharing applications such as Uber or Careem provide a significantly less expensive option to taxis in Dubai. If you plan on touring areas outside of the city center, renting a car while in Dubai may be a good idea.

When compared to many other parts of the globe, housing in Dubai is not going to be inexpensive. However, there are some excellent (and comparatively!) economical locations to stay in this famously pricey city. We spent some time in the Dubai Mall when we wanted to experience Dubai at its most entertaining, and we were not disappointed.

1) Admire The Buildings And Architecture

Aesthetically, Dubai is renowned for its buildings. It appears that each new structure that is constructed aspires to be distinct from the previous ones. As we traveled about Dubai, the nerdy engineer in me spent a lot of time with her neck craned up, taking in the sights of the structures. There was a great deal of variation in terms of color and shape. When we went on the river architecture tour in Chicago, I had the similar sense of wonder at the engineering! In Dubai, there are two famous structures that everyone is familiar with.

On our first visit to Dubai, we took advantage of the Hop-On-Hop-Off (HOHO) bus system, which we used for two days. The first HOHO route we chose brought us out along the Palm Jumeirah, which was our very first stop. We were looking forward to seeing the Atlantis Dubai Resort. We are frequent travelers to Nassau, Bahamas, particularly the Atlantis Resort, which is a favorite destination for us. We had a great time in the water parks, aquarium, and pools, and we spent several days there. It felt strange to see the Atlantis Dubai Resort in the distance.

5) Enjoy A Cruise

For a brief sail around Dubai, there were a variety of alternatives available. A trip around the Dubai Creek provided us with an opportunity to see a more traditional side of Dubai. This was the location of the spice and gold souks. Traditional dhow boats were used as ferries to transport passengers and cargo over the channel. The tourist tours were given by larger dhow boats. If we wanted to be entertained, we could join the evening cruises, which included food and music. There was a lot to see on both sides of the Dubai Creek, which was great.

After that, we were taken on a trip along the Palm Jumeirah.

As we made our way back to the marina, we were treated to a spectacular glimpse of the marina skyline as the sun sank.

We returned to the harbor and watched as the boats and businesses were illuminated with vividly colored neon. The experience of taking a cruise is one of the best things to do in Dubai. We went on both the Dubai Creek and the Marina excursions, and both of them were nice to see something different.

6) Eat, Shop Or Play At The Dubai Mall

It is common for visitors to Dubai to rank a visit to the Dubai Mall at the top of their list of things to do in Dubai. We found the shopping to be prohibitively costly, but we were not there to purchase anything. The aquarium and the indoor ice rink were popular attractions. The divers on the fountain’s wall drew people’s attention to themselves. There was something new and exciting to see and do at the Dubai Mall every time we turned around. Our favorite feature in the Dubai Mall was the fountain display beneath the Burj Khalifa, which was a highlight of our visit.

7) Celebrate New Years Eve

Dubai is an excellent location for New Year’s Eve festivities. There will be spectacular fireworks displays all across the city on New Year’s Eve. We strolled down to the JBR beach and mingled with the rest of the tourists. As the fireworks went off around the harbor, everyone’s iPhones and iPads were raised to grab a glimpse of the spectacle. We wanted to travel downtown in Dubai to view the spectacular fireworks display atop the Burj Khalifa, so we planned a trip there. However, getting into downtown proved to be a significant challenge.

The laser display and light show will be well worth the trip, no doubt about it.

8) See The Other Emirates

If you’ve exhausted your options for things to do in Dubai, it’s a short drive to the other emirates from the city of lights. Abu Dhabi was a city that was extremely similar to Dubai in that there was a lot to see and do. There’s even another Atlantis Resort in the area! In addition, we went to Fujairah. It was a completely different emirate, one that was more rural and traditional in character. It is the only emirate in the world that has both mountains and a large amount of water. While you may take a day trip to the other emirates, if you want to remain for a longer period of time, there is much more to see and do.

There was a plethora of things to see and do while in Dubai. Both of our visits were jam-packed with activities. The selection is diverse and caters to nearly everyone’s needs. And after we got off the motorways, it was much simpler to navigate around around Dubai! We were disappointed that the ski slope and other activities in the Mall of the Emirates were not available.
