The Dubai Fountain – Wikipedia
It is a choreographed fountain system located on the 12 hectare (30 acre) manmadeBurj KhalifaLake, in the heart of the Downtown Dubaidevelopment in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The Dubai Fountain is one of the world’s most visited attractions. Wet Design, a California-based business that also developed the fountains at theBellagio HotelLake in Las Vegas, created the structure. A total of 6,600 lights and 50 colorful projectors illuminate the structure, which is 275 metres (902 metres) long and sprays water up to 500 metres (152.4 metres) into the air, accompanied by a variety of Arabic and international music ranging from classical to modern.
It was decided on the name of the fountain following a contest launched by the developer Emaar Properties, the results of which were released on October 26, 2008.
Mechanism
The Dubai Fountain has the capability of releasing 22,000 gallons (83,000 litres) of water into the air at any given time. Almost 6,600 lights and 25 color projectors have been placed, resulting in a total illumination of over 20,000 square feet. In addition to two arcs and five circles of varying diameters, the fountain has five circles of varying sizes. Towards the end of 2010, a new element was introduced to the fountain: fire, which was used to outline the fountains’ perimeter. The fire was only there for the New Year’s Eve celebrations in 2011.
The fountain’s beam of light may be seen from more than 20 miles away, thanks to its unique design.
In addition to the water robots, WET Shooters blast water upwards, including Super Shooters, which can shoot water under greater pressure up to 73 meters (240 feet) in the air, and Extreme Shooters, which can shoot water under the greatest pressure up to 500 meters (152.4 meters) in the air.
During each presentation, the Extreme Shooters are utilized the least since it takes a long time to build up enough pressure and energy to spray water so high into the air.
Performances
The Dubai Fountain’s nozzles are distributed around the city. The Dubai Fountain performs to the tune “Bassbor Al Fourgakom” to the accompaniment of the fountain. The fountain is brought to life with performances that are choreographed to music and light. Everything along the lake promenade as well as several of the surrounding structures can be seen from there. Performances are held at 1:00 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. on weekdays and at 1:30 p.m. on weekends, as well as every 30 minutes from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
to 11 p.m.
On the 20th of October, 2011, DHL Express launched a new advertising campaign at The Dubai Fountain.
The performance was repeated for roughly a month. Almost every performance of the fountains is accompanied by music broadcast through speakers placed surrounding the lake, however the fountains may occasionally be performed without music for testing purposes.
Usage
At the Expo 2020logo launch in March 2016, the fountains and the mall had a role, and the event was attended by managing director Reem Al Hashimy and prime minister Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Following the occasion, the fountains performed to the song “I Will Always Love You” by Whitney Houston.
Music
To Peter Kopik, the choreography department head of WET Design, was entrusted the task of picking music for the fountain’s soundtrack.

Burj Khalifa Light Show & Dubai Fountain Timings (& where to get the best views!)
A visit to theDubai Fountain Show, which takes place on the Burj Khalifa Lake in Downtown Dubai, is one of the most magnificent and unmissable contemporary attractions in the city. It is the world’s largest dancing fountain show (or it was, until the Palm Fountains debuted in October 2020!) and was built in yet another world-record-breaking construction project in Dubai. We will walk you through the following steps: Watching the Dubai Fountains at night is one of the most enjoyable free things to do in Dubai – you can find a complete list of all of Dubai’s free attractions right here.
Dubai Fountain Timings
- Every 30 minutes, from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM, there are evening shows.
Extra programs may be arranged to run all day and into the night during the Eid/Public Holidays and other special occasions. During the summer months, the noon performances will no longer be held. In terms of duration, the dancing fountain display itself lasts around 5 minutes at a time.
Burj Khalifa light show timings
If you can, catch the first fountain show at dusk and then return for a nighttime show, when you can also see LED lights shows on the Burj Khalifa starting at 7.45 PM, it’s a great experience. The Burj Khalifa light display takes place every 30 minutes on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays until 10.45 p.m., and it is free to attend. Weekly, from 7.45 p.m. until midnight, every hour (Program subject to change). This is a fantastic fill-in entertainment while you’re waiting for the fountains to begin to flow.
It is difficult to make a more impactful announcement than by printing it on the Burj Khalifa!
The colors of the Kuwaiti flag were projected onto the Burj Khalifa.
Where can I watch the fountain show in Dubai?
Located between the Dubai Mall, Souk Al Bahar, and the Burj Khalifa on a 30-acre lake known as Burj Khalifa Lake, or simply Burj Lake, the Dubai Fountain is one of the world’s most famous attractions. The fountains are synchronized to music in order to give the impression that they are dancing, which is why they are sometimes referred to as “the Dancing Fountains of Dubai.” The waterfront promenade in front of Dubai Mall is one of the most popular and easily accessible spots to watch the Dubai Fountains — and it is completely free.
The most common method of exiting Dubai Mall is by the central exit (which is located beneath the massive Apple store, which also has an outside viewing balcony!) There are designated areas on the promenade where people are now permitted to stand in order to minimize crowding at the rails, thanks to COVID-19 regulations – but you can be sure that many are breaking the rules.
We do not advocate using this exit unless you are wanting to cut across the bridge to Souk al Baharwe.
Instead, travel to the Lower Ground Floor exit at “At the Top,” which is located at the Fashion Avenue end of the Dubai Mall.
This exit is far less congested, and you will be in a better position to see the fountains and the Burj Khalifa from here. There are a variety of additional options for getting a nice view of the Dubai Fountains, including the following:
- Taking a typical abra ride around Burj Lake on a fountain lake (read more about this below! )
- Take a stroll around the Dubai Fountain Boardwalk (see more information below!)
- Spending the evening at one of the neighborhood restaurants with lakeside outside dining (read more about this below!)
- From the pedestrian walkway that surrounds Souk Al Bahar
- From atop one of the city’s many tall buildings, such as the Burj Khalifa, you can see the whole city.
Please keep in mind that it is advisable to be at the venue 15 minutes before the concert begins. The water will begin to glimmer around 10 minutes before the lights on the promenade will be dimmed in preparation for the show.
Fountain Lake Ride – seeing the Dubai Fountains from the water
On a wooden abra that surrounds Burj Khalifa Lake, you can get up up and personal with the show. They leave in scheduled periods 15 minutes before each concert (i.e., 15 minutes past and 15 minutes to the hour) and perform for 30 minutes each.
- Tickets for the Dubai Fountain Lake Ride may be purchased in advance here.
Please keep in mind that these tickets must be picked up at At the Top (the Burj Khalifa ticketing desk), which is located on the lower ground level of the Dubai Mall. Because it takes several minutes to walk from the ticketing office back to the “Lake Ride” entrance point on the promenade, it is recommended that you plan ahead of time. ADubai Canal Cruise can help you get the most out of your water experience in Dubai. As part of this excursion, guests will be served a five-star supper buffet while viewing the Dubai Canal’s nighttime attractions, which will feature the new waterfall beneath Sheikh Zayed Road as well as the dancing fountains, aboard a considerably larger dhow boat.
- Tickets for the Dubai Canal Cruise may be purchased in advance here.
Please keep in mind that the dinner cruise leaves at Dubai Festival City Mall rather than Dubai Mall.

If you are not using a cab or self-parking, the Metro is the most convenient mode of transportation to reach Dubai Mall. The most convenient stops are both on the red line: the Burj Khalifa / Dubai Mall Metro Station is the closest, however it may be quite crowded during peak hours. The Burj Khalifa / Dubai Mall Metro Station is also the most expensive (around a 10-minute walk). Dubai Fountain: The story behind its dancing waters
Editor’s note: Many of CNN’s programs have funding from the nations and regions in which we are focusing our attention. CNN, on the other hand, has complete editorial control over all of its coverage. Our sponsorship policy is as follows: (CNN) – The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is urging farmers to plant more crops in the coming year. Visitors to Dubai are drawn to the gigantic fountain at the foot of the Burj Khalifa like moths to a flame, and they always seem to congregate there. It’s easy to understand why: at more than 900 feet in length and capable of shooting water 50 floors into the air, the fountain is really spectacular.
- As a focal point in the city, it welcomes in the New Year, celebrates holidays, and hosts celebrity guests such as K-Pop band EXO, who are welcomed with uniquely choreographed presentations.
- WET, a Los Angeles-based company, was tasked with bringing the vision to life when it was commissioned by EMAAR Properties, the developers of Downtown Dubai.
- “We prefer to develop things that are exciting and state-of-the-art, as well as quick and wet,” said WET president Mark Fuller in an interview with CNN.
- “It’s unusual for us to come up with a single answer,” he says.
- What will happen to the pumps and electricity?
- Then there are the queries that are more creative in nature: “What exactly is the poetry that we’ll be creating?
- Will there be a need for an enemy to play against the water?
- In his role as director of choreography at WET, Peter Kopik is responsible for the difficult process of putting together a performance made up of hundreds of fountain hoses and other props.
The choreographer notes that “we have to become familiar with that particular culture and how those who will be viewing the choreography react to music and relate to dance.” “For example, in Arabic culture, one of the most important principles is that the music be downbeat rather than cheerful.
In Fuller’s opinion, “(people) are constantly astonished at the amount of technology we have hiding behind the scenes.” “There are frequently millions of dollars and kilojoules of energy hidden beneath the surface of the water, beneath the ripples and waves.
The small drop of water in the eye of the audience next to me is what Fuller looks for to determine whether or not the performance has been successful.
“That’s what I get as a reward.” Correction: The title of this item has been modified to reflect the actual name of the K-Pop group whose song was played in the Dubai Fountain.
Burj Khalifa Fountain, Dubai Mall Fountain – Music, Times
As the largest musical fountain in the world and Dubai’s most famous free tourist attraction, the Dubai Fountain is a must-see. Located on the Burj Khalifa Lake in Downtown Dubai, between the Dubai Mall, Souk Al Bahar, and the Burj Khalifa, it is a popular tourist destination. The fountain is made up of a primary arc of jets that extends for 275 metres, which is connected to a smaller arc and five rings of jets. When the show begins, these enormous jets send water sprays up to 150 metres in the air, dancing in time to the music and lighted by more than 6,000 bright lights, lasers, and 50 color projectors, among other things.
- Evening concerts will begin at 6 p.m.
- Contemporary pop, classical, and Arabic music are among the songs and pieces of music that are synced with the displays.
- 9 in E minor by Antonin Dvorak, Ensan Aktar by Abdul Majeed Abdullah, I’ll Never Love Again by Lady Gaga and Bradley The music list is updated on a regular basis.
- There is no charge to attend the performances, which may be viewed from a variety of sites across Downtown Dubai.
- Thousands of people flood out of the mall just before the show begins, causing the surrounding area to become highly crowded.
- As a result, the promenade surrounding Souk Al Bahar is far less congested and provides a more pleasant viewing experience.
- There are also a few of paid watching alternatives for nighttime performances that are accessible as well.
The Dubai Fountain Boardwalk is a paid option that is less expensive.
Lake Ride tickets are now available for purchase for AED 68.25 at the time of writing (May 2021).
Another alternative for enjoying a spectacular view of the fountains is to dine at one of the restaurants that have outdoor dining spaces that overlook the lake and fountain.
TGI Fridays, Wafi Gourmet (Lebanese), Carluccio’s (Italian), and Joe’s Café are just a few of the restaurants at the Dubai Mall that have excellent views.
Several eateries in Souk Al Bahar also provide spectacular views of the surrounding area.
BakerSpice and Bice Mare are examples of such varieties (Italian). A large number of eateries in this area provide alcoholic beverages. The Apple Store at the Dubai Mall is distinguished for its expansive balcony. It’s also a wonderful spot to catch a glimpse of the Dubai Fountain.

Where is the best place to watch the Dubai Fountains?
For visitors to Dubai, the stunning Dubai Fountains are a must-see site that should not be missed. In addition, you’ll want to make sure you select the finest spot to observe the Dubai Fountains from a safe distance. The Dubai Fountains are located directly next door to The Dubai Mall (another must-see sight), making it quite convenient to get there by taxi and to navigate your way through the complex.
So where is the best place to watch the Dubai Fountains?
The good news is that there are a plethora of breathtaking vantage points from which to see the Dubai fountains! In addition, because the Dubai Fountains are so large, there are several viewing points from which to enjoy them. Given that they wrap around a promenade and can be seen from all angles and viewpoints, they are an excellent choice for a wedding or other special occasion (some are busier than others). In this section, we’ll discuss the greatest places to observe the Dubai Fountains, as well as where you can discover the best views of the Dubai Fountains in the vicinity of the Dubai Mall.
Get the sky views of The Dubai Fountains from The Burj Kalifa
The Burj Kalifa is the first building on my list of the finest places to observe the Dubai Fountains. If you climb to the top of the Burj Kalifa observation deck, you’ll be rewarded with spectacular views of the fountains from above. When the Dubai fountains are dancing away kilometers beneath your feet, it provides for a fantastic photo opportunity, and it’s lovely to watch them. Naturally, there is a fee to view the fountains from this vantage point, but you can reserve your spot online in advance and typically receive a discounted rate.
If you want to avoid the crowds, I recommend scheduling a skip-the-line tour that allows you access to all of the levels (click here for my advice).
From the water inside a traditional Arabic boat!
If you want to be near to the fountains, the best place to be is in the water when they are launched. The ultimate ‘first row seat,’ this is a genuinely remarkable spot to see the fountains from, and you really can’t get any closer to the action than this! This is a very lovely and romantic way to view the fountains, and it is one that will be remembered for a long time! Exceptional advice! Because of the high volume of people in the mall area at peak hours, it might be difficult to select the best spot for this trip.
You may reserve tickets ahead of time by visiting here. They provide clear instructions, and I strongly advise doing so because these tickets sell out quickly at busy periods.
Dine and watch the fountain views at Zeta Restaurant
It is located in The Address Hotel Downtown and has the most beautiful views of the fountains. The Zeta restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. You may skip the congestion of the mall and instead sit in a tranquil and atmospheric restaurant and take in the views of the Dubai fountains. You are also not required to dine at the restaurant in order to enjoy the views; you can simply reserve a table for cocktails or beverages and sit back and enjoy the scenery all night. Cocktails cost around 60 DHS apiece, or approximately £11.
Dinner at the Burj Club
The Burj Club, which is located in the Burj Kalifa and overlooks the Dubai Fountains, is a luxurious retreat. This is an excellent option for couples or anyone want to extend their fountains experience because it is quite romantic and makes for an excellent ‘date night’ concept. The fountains are activated every 30 minutes, which means you’ll be able to enjoy at least three performances throughout your dinner seating, depending on how long you’ll be there. Interested in making a reservation? The Burj Club offers a convenient package that includes both observation deck tickets and dinner tickets in one convenient location (click here), and it’s a fantastic option if you want to take in the sights while also enjoying some delicious cuisine!
The close up view from the bridge
Immediately outside the mall, on the promenade overlooking the Dubai fountains, you’ll see that there is a bridge that crosses over the adjacent hotel and shopping center. It is one of the greatest places to view the Dubai fountains – but it will be crowded during peak hours, so you may want to arrive around 15 minutes before the fountains are scheduled to begin so you can be sure you have the best location at the head of the line. It’s the proximity to the Dubai fountains that makes this the greatest spot to observe them — you’ll feel like you’re right in the heart of all the excitement.
Book a VIP lounge overlooking the fountains
If you have the means, I highly recommend this option for seeing the Dubai Fountains. It is both romantic and extremely luxury, making it an excellent choice for a special occasion. Included in this trip is a private hotel pickup in a luxury sports vehicle, a transport to the Burj Kalifa’s VIP entrance (which means no queue!) and a window table in a luxury cocktail club on the 123rd level of the Burj Kalifa from which to admire the view. When the sun sets, it’s an exceptionally stunning way to take in the fountains’ splendor.
Another sky high view from NEO’s bar inside The Address Downtown
Located on the top level of The Address Hotel Dubai, Neo’s is a brand new bar that has panoramic views over the Dubai Mall, the Dubai Fountains, and the Burj Kalifa. With a vista like this, how can you not be in love? One evening, reserve a table for a couple of cocktails and take in the view of the Dubai fountains from the top of the building.
Finally, ground floor at the mall!
On my list of the greatest spots to see the Dubai Fountains, the mall is at the top of the list. As a last point of reference, I reserved the most apparent spot to see the Dubai fountains until last since it is the location that will be most evident when you come outdoors to watch the Dubai fountains. Once you’ve exited the mall, you’ll note that there is plenty of area for people to congregate and appreciate the fountains – which, of course, they do!
It is one of the most beautiful areas to see the Dubai fountains because of all the open space surrounding them. You will also get some of the greatest views of the fountains from this area along the sides. Because you’ll be so near, you’ll be able to hear the music as well.

Best places to see Dubai Fountain
The Waterfront Promenade, which is located outside the Dubai Mall, is one of the most popular places to view the Dubai Fountains. Because most people come out of the mall to watch the Dubai Fountains, the area is quite packed just before the performance begins. You should thus arrive early to obtain a front-row seat, especially if you want to see the show from the best possible vantage point. Another location where you may get a great view of the Dubai Fountains is the promenade that circles around Souk Al Bahar.
If you want to escape the crowds at the Dubai Mall exit and the Souk Al Bahar Bridge, you must leave from the Dubai Mall 15 minutes before the performance begins if you want to see the show in peace.
While the spectacular Fountain displays may be viewed for free from the ground, seeing the Fountains up close and personal while taking a boat trip around Burj Lake is a far more enriching and memorable experience.
More information about the boat ride ticket may be found here. While visiting the Burj Khalifa, some visitors are fortunate enough to see the Dubai Fountain display. Return to the top of the page
Ground floor is better to see Dubai Fountains
Because you can hear the sound of the fountains from the ground level, it is preferable to view them from there. After all, it is only when the elements of light, water, and sound come together in this attraction that the magic is generated. That’s why even the Burj Khalifa isn’t a very ideal place to watch the Dubai Fountain Show. Return to the top of the page
Dubai Fountain boardwalk
It is known as the Dubai Fountain Walk bridge, and it is a fresh new floating platform that connects the Dubai Fountain. It is another another vantage point from which you may see the Dubai Fountains in their full splendor. More than ever, the Boardwalk brings you closer to the Dubai Fountain than you’ve ever been before. Take a stroll down the Boardwalk, which is 272 meters (892 feet) long, with the closest point to the fountains being only 9 meters (30 feet) away from the water. Tourists that have visited this Boardwalk have stated that it was not worth their time and money.

Dubai Fountain at night or day?
If you want to get the most out of your visit to the Dubai Fountains, it is best to go at night, when the gates open at 6 p.m. At night, there will not be as much of a crowd as there is during the day. The lake and fountains are even more spectacular at night, when all of the colors join together to create a mesmerizing display of light and movement. The midday Dubai Fountains performance is also a good option because it allows you to spend some time exploring the adjacent market once the show is over.
