But afterspending $40anda couple of lackluster hours on the observation deck, I waswishing I had skipped going inside and just enjoyed the view frombelow.Here’s what it was like.

To visit the Burj Khalifa, you have to buy a ticket for a certain date and time. The price depends on the time. If you want to go around 5 p.m. (sunset), it could be as much as $60. I decided to go around 7 p.m., costing me $40.

The outdoor observatory is claustrophobic, the climb to the top is unbearably lengthy, and the view isn’t something to write home about either. I wish I had saved the $40 as well as my valuable time.

Burj Khalifa: The tallest building in the world

The Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, surpassed the Sears Tower as the world’s tallest office skyscraper in March 1996, surpassing it by a narrow margin. The 88-storey buildings were raised to 451.9 metres in height by stainless steel pinnacles measuring 73.5 metres (241 feet) in length and set atop them (1,482 ft 8 in). Design and construction

“We are born with a problem to solve. A challenge to show to ourselves, and then to the rest of the world, that we can do it “Mr. Ahmed Al Falasi, Executive Director of the Burj Khalifa, described his original motivation for the construction of the skyscraper in his speech. People all across the world questioned if it was really feasible to create a skyscraper so tall – and this was before the Burj was intended to be ‘just’ 518 metres tall, only 10 metres taller than the Taipei 101. Actually, throughout the design process, it increased in height by a remarkable 310 metres, which is almost equal in height to the Eiffel Tower in Paris.

Breaking records

The Burj Khalifa, which stands 828 meters (2,716 feet 6 inches) tall, is more than twice the height of the Empire State Building and nearly three times the size of the Eiffel Tower. During the process of establishing the Burj as the world’s tallest skyscraper, Guinness World Records also recognized a number of other notable accomplishments by the ground-breaking construction project. In addition to having the world’s tallest elevator (504 meters; 1,654 feet), it boasts the most floors in a building (163) and the highest restaurant from ground level (500 meters; 1,654 feet) (441.3 m; 1,447 ft 10 in).

The Burj’s observation deck is one of the most remarkable elements of the building.

More than 1.6 tonnes (3,527 lb) of fireworks were let off in less than 10 minutes, setting a new world record for the most number of pyrotechnics launched from a structure.

Jeddah Tower

In the not-too-distant future, it is possible that the Burj’s record may be surpassed by a Middle Eastern competitor. This project, known as the Kingdom Tower before it, is now under development in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and is expected to reach 1,000 meters in height when completed (3,281 ft). It will be 170 meters (550 feet) taller than the Burj Khalifa, becoming the world’s first one-kilometer building. Adrian Smith, the same architect who created the Burj Khalifa, was tasked with designing it.

Is it feasible to extend the reach of buildings even further into the sky?

Burj Khalifa – The Skyscraper Center

The design and engineering of the Burj Khalifa have pushed the boundaries of what is feasible in the field of supertall structures. Using a unique combination of cutting-edge technology and cultural elements, the building acts as a worldwide landmark that serves as both a blueprint for future urban centers and a statement about the global push towards compact and livable urban regions. There is no other new property in Dubai that is more centrally located than the Tower and its surrounding neighborhood.

Despite the fact that the architecture of the Burj Khalifa has elements to Islamic architecture, it also represents the modern global society that it is intended to serve.

With each “wing” of the tapering tower rising in height, setbacks occur at the extremities of each “wing,” creating an upward spiraling pattern that reduces the bulk of each “wing” as its height rises.

Water collected from air conditioning condensate output is kept out of the wastewater stream and decreases the requirement for municipal potable water.
Electric energy monitoring devices installed on individual towers allow for energy optimization of the tower’s systems during the course of its lifetime.
The topmost stories’ interiors were created to reflect celestial influences, and this was reflected in their exteriors.
For the Tower, a comprehensive visual arts program was devised, with over 500 unique works of art being placed and specified throughout the structure.
It is titled “World Voices” and is formed of 196 cymbals that are supported by stainless steel rods that rise from two pools that are reminiscent of reeds growing in a lake.

The 196 cymbals on the Burj Khalifa’s spire represent the 196 countries of the globe, and they serve as a reminder that the building was the product of the efforts of many individuals from all over the world.
