Dubai ‘is ready to bid for the Olympics’

I’d also like to express my gratitude and pay respect to a legendary sports figure whose influence will continue well beyond his physical presence on our planet.

I believe Juan Antonio Samaranch was the most important leader of the Olympic Movement since the founding father, Pierre de Coubertin, despite the fact that it is impossible to compare various periods and different situations at the same time.

In recent years, the standards that govern amateur and professional sports have grown unrealistic and inefficient.

Our financial base was shaky to begin with.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has slipped behind the times, particularly in its refusal to eliminate restrictions for women.

He transformed the Games into the main international competition that they are today.

He was the one who brought in the first female members.
