The metropolitan region around the city encompasses over 1,500 square miles (3,885 square kilometers), with the city proper being approximately 15.5 square miles (25 square kilometers) (35 sq km). In addition to the development of man-made islands in the gulf, which will be known as Marsa Al Arab, as well as some construction in the desert areas, Dubai’s land area is being expanded. The newest manufactured islands, which will be completed in 2017, will cover 4 million square feet (.14 square miles,.37 square kilometers) and will extend the city’s shoreline by 1.5 miles (2.4 kilometers).
These new man-made islands do not represent the first time that man-made islands have been added to the city’s shoreline.
Additionally, 300 private islands (dubbed “The World”) were constructed beginning in 2003 and sold to developers or affluent individuals for the purpose of building private luxury residences (or many mansions on a single island) and resorts.
Despite the fact that the majority of the 300 islands in the vicinity are undeveloped, construction in the area known as The Heart of Europe resumed in 2016 after having been suspended in 2008 during the global recession.
They do have certain difficulties, though, due to the fact that the sand erodes naturally and must be replenished on a regular basis, and that they are only accessible by boat or aircraft.
History of Dubai
The first recorded mention of Dubai as a city is found in the geographer Abu Abdullah al-(1014–1094) Bakri’s “Book of Geography,” which was published in 1095. When it was recognized as a hub of commerce and pearling in the Middle Ages, it was a major port city. The sheiks who governed Dubai struck a contract with the British in 1892, according to which the United Kingdom committed to “defend” Dubai from the Ottoman Empire for a period of time. There is no need to fly, exchange money, or pass a border as a result.

The United Arab Emirates does not have any perennial streams or bodies of surface water that occur on a regular basis. The Ma Salt Flatextends southward into Saudi Arabia in the extreme west, while coastalsabkhah s, which are periodically inundated by the seas of the Persian Gulf, are found in the regions of Abu Dhabi and the UAE capital of Dubai.
Climate
The climate near the coast is hot and humid, and it is even hotter and drier in the inland, which is hot and dry. Rainfall is only 4 to 6 inches (100 to 150 mm) on average every year, with significant variations from one year to the next. The average temperature in January is 64 degrees Fahrenheit (18 degrees Celsius), while the average temperature in July is 91 degrees Fahrenheit (33 degrees Celsius). Summertime highs can reach 115 degrees Fahrenheit (46 degrees Celsius) near the coast and 120 degrees Fahrenheit (49 degrees Celsius) or more in the desert.
Midwinter and early summer are characterized by the presence of theshaml winds, which blow from the north and northwest and bring dust and sand with them.
Plant and animal life
Given the desert environment, vegetation is sparse and mostly restricted to low bushes that give feed to nomadic herds. However, millions of trees, particularly mangroves, have been planted in Abu Dhabi, providing habitat for a diverse range of species. A total of six villages in Al Buraimi were held by the United Arab Emirates, as well as the majority of the al-Zafra desert and the city of Al Ain. According to the deal, Saudi Arabia was the exclusive owner of all hydrocarbons in the Shaybah-Zarrara field. Yes, if you appreciate learning about and experiencing new cultures, then absolutely! There are only so many things that can be done while lying on a Thai beach, so once you’ve checked that box, it’s time to put yourself through some serious challenges. There are no tourist buses in the Middle East, no hostels full of college students, and you are truly on the road in this region. And Dubai is an excellent starting location for such an endeavor. This part of the UAE is far more liberal (in the Western sense) than much of the rest of the country, and it serves as an excellent introduction before you embark on excursions to Syria or Iraq, such as the ones I took my readers on (read about them on those links, they were fantastic trips!).
