Here’s how you can be part of the UAE’s all-new squash academy

The formal opening of a brand-new high-performance squash academy has taken place in Dubai. The Flying DAF squash academy, which is based in Jumeirah Mina A’Salam, features five courts that are next to one of Dubai’s most prestigious beachfronts, including the J Club at Jumeirah Beach Hotel, and is open to the public. Those looking to improve their skills may take use of the expertise of five full-time coaches as well as a number of squash-based fitness and technical programs that can be taken in groups or one-on-one.

  • Children aged five and above are eligible to join, as is the originator, a retired professional.
  • “Our approach to teaching at the Flying DAF Squash Academy is completely adaptable to the needs of our players, regardless of their ability.” As the Head Coach, El Dafrawy emphasizes that squash is a sport for everyone.
  • So, where did the name of the academy come from?
  • She was renowned for her athleticism and elevation, and it was her ability to leap from each corner of the court that earned her the nickname.

According to the 27-year-old, “We aim to give a pathway into elite education and training overseas, while also establishing a home squash culture that produces local, regional, and worldwide champions over time.” In addition to coaching sessions and membership access, The Flying DAF will offer monthly competitions for players of all skill levels, with a slew of prizes up for grabs.

to 10 p.m., with hours ranging from 8 a.m.

SQUASH SINGLES LADDERS BOX (SSLB)

With this new SSLB problem, we are adding a ‘box’ format to ensure that participants of similar skill levels are competing against one another. We have developed a new WhatsApp group/Google Sheet so that you can acquire the contact information for each and every other player; please contact us if you would want access to the group. We will just ask for four matches each month as a bare minimum commitment from those who wish to participate in this new SSLB.

SCORING

1. Matches will be best of five games with point-a-rally scoring up to a maximum of eleven points. 2. Points in the box league are earned in the following ways: The winner receives five points if he or she wins three games in a row. The Loser receives one point for participating in the game as well as one point for each game lost. The game was not completed: one point was awarded to each player, plus one point for each game won. Important: If both players agree to rematch, then this rule does not apply in that instance.

BOX/LADDER RULES

A five-person box is available. This entails a commitment of four matches every month for the foreseeable future. We have Div One, Div Two, Div Three, and Junior Box on the schedule for December 2020 SSLB. The two-up, two-down rule applies. The top two players will be promoted, while the worst two players will be demoted. A far more active ladder, with a lot of movement and, more crucially, more opportunities to play against new players every round, will result as a result of this change (monthly).

New boxes will be supplied, and the scores will be reset to zero at the end of each round.

Scores are to be forwarded to the Squash committee for consideration.
