A major component of Dubai’s strategy to diversify its economy into property, leisure, and investment – both locally and internationally – is the government-owned holding firm. In the United Arab Emirates, the city of Dubai is the most populated of the seven Emirates, each of which is a sovereign entity controlled by a Muslim king. As a result of a proclamation signed by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai, Dubai World was officially founded in March 2006.
There are four primary investment arms of Dubai World: Transport and Logistics, Drydocks and Maritime, Urban Development and Investment, and Financial Services, among others.

An Introduction About Dubai
Dubai is one of the seven emirates of the United Arab Emirates, and it is the capital of the country. The city is located on the Arabian Peninsula’s northern shoreline. In the 1950s, Dubai was a modest commerce and fishing town with a population of less than 50,000 people. Now there is a massive conurbation on the horizon. Everything around you is getting taller, larger, and more magnificent. Glass towers rise out of the desolate desert sands, and dream world islands have been built offshore in the shape of palm trees or, more surrealistically, a map of the world.
Due to the large volume of business conducted in Dubai, the city has been dubbed the ‘City of Merchants,’ or alternatively the ‘City of Gold,’ due to the large number of gold shops in the city.
Conditions in Dubai are extremely hot, to the point where air conditioning is required in all indoor areas of the city.
Temperatures can soar to above 100 degrees Fahrenheit in the spring, and it can be oppressively humid.

Travel information United Arab Emirates
Accepts the official currency of the UAE, the dirham Dollars in the United States are frequently not accepted. Credit cards – are generally recognized as a form of payment. UTC +4 is the time zone in which the vehicle is being driven. The Port of Rashid serves as a port for cruise ships. Dubai’s cruise port is the largest cruise terminal in the world, with a capacity of 60,000 passengers. At any given time, it can accommodate up to six ships. There are several cruise docks behind one another, and they are all connected to the cruise terminals: Terminal 1, Terminal 2, and Terminal 3.
These cruise docks feature everything a cruise passenger might possibly need, including tourist information, postal services, mall representatives, currency exchange, wi-fi, souvenir stores, and a taxi stand, among other things.
To go by foot from the cruise port to the city of Dubai is not suggested.
Taxis in Dubai
The official taxis in Dubai are beige with a coloured roof (typically red, green, or blue), and they are equipped with a meter to collect fare. Drivers of taxis are permitted to enter and exit the port. In certain cases, getting them to take you out of the port at a fair price might be difficult to arrange. The majority of them prefer to bargain for a price rather than drive on the meter, which usually results in a price of approximately 40 US dollars (depending on your bargaining skills) to Deira, whereas the meter price should be approximately 20 dirham.
Getting back to the port while driving on the meter is usually not a problem, but make sure to check with the driver before getting into the taxi to make sure.
Shuttle service
A shuttle service from your ship to the port should be available, though this is not always the case with all cruise lines.
Check with your ship’s front desk to see whether they will give one and, if so, what the requirements are.
Mall shuttle service
A shuttle service to and from the port should be provided by your cruise ship, however this is not always the case with all cruise lines. On board, inquire with your ship’s front desk about whether or not they would give one, and if so, what the requirements are.
Public Transport
The NOL card is required for all public transit in Dubai, and it is strongly recommended that you obtain one. This public transportation card is valid on the metro and bus systems in Dubai. At the machine, you can purchase a single ticket for a day pass (22 dirham) with Dirham cash or a credit card (visa or master card). Traveling the metro is a quick, inexpensive, and convenient method to get about. It is recommended that you take a cab or the mall shuttle from the cruise to the Burjuman shopping mall / metro station.
Given the fact that Dubai is relatively spread out, this system will work well for you because it will run often and you will not be caught in traffic.
Hop on hop off bus
There are hop on hop off buses in Dubai, and there are various firms who offer this service. Typically, the two largest companies would arrive at the terminal building with their buses. This type of transportation is fairly pricey, so here is some special advise from our side: when you arrive at the terminal, bargain with representatives of the hop on hop off buses!

Introduction
Dubai is a contemporary metropolis that has risen out of the desert and onto the shores of the Arabian Gulf. Because it is a huge and fast expanding metropolis, it might be tough to keep up with the most up to date information because things are always changing. Please keep in mind that Friday and Saturday are weekends, with most stores and services closed or operating with reduced hours on Fridays and Saturday.
Visas
Citizens of the vast majority of countries do not require a visa to enter Dubai.
After a diplomatic dispute ended on June 1, 2013, Canadian citizens no longer required visas, which were previously required.
Where You’re Docked
Port Rashid Pier, which has three cruise terminals, is where cruise ships dock. Terminal 1 is an outdated facility that is hardly often utilized. Besides a small café and free internet computers, Terminal 2 also contains a currency exchange counter and an ATM, as well as a post office (for letters and postcards only) and a few small businesses. A small convenience store is located just outside the terminal building. With the addition of a VIP business center and turnaround facilities, Terminal 3 is the newest and biggest terminal at the airport, having opened in December 2014 with the same amenities as Terminal 2 and the addition of a VIP business center and turnaround facilities.
- The free shuttle service to Dubai Mall (with the first departure at 9 a.m.

- There are plans to build two new cruise ports as part of the Dubai Harbour development, which will be located at the base of the Palm Jumeirah and next to Dubai Marina.
Money and Tipping
The dirham (AED) is the official currency of the United Arab Emirates, however US dollars are frequently recognized. The currency exchange counter in the cruise terminal provides outstanding prices for both buying and selling currencies, and there is no commission charged on either transaction. Exchange points may also be located throughout the Gold Souk and the major shopping complexes across the city. If you are dining in a restaurant and the service fee is not included, leave a gratuity of 10-15 percent.
Local Transportation
In September 2011, a second green line was added to Dubai’s modern metro system. The Khalid Bin Walid station, which is a transfer point for the green and red lines, is right next to the Burjuman Center shuttle stop if you take the shuttle to Burjuman Center. Fares start at 4 AED and vary depending on the number of zones traveled. A day pass costs 20 AED and can be purchased in advance (Mar 2019). In addition to the contactless card, guests may purchase a Red ticket (for an extra 2 AED), which can be used up to a maximum of 10 times.
Due to Dubai’s wide nature, the metro stations may not appear to be in close proximity to several attractions, necessitating the need to walk or hire a cab to complete your trip.
Take the abra (water bus) across Dubai Creek for 2 AED to get to your destination. Despite the fact that the bus network is equipped with enclosed, air-conditioned bus shelters, taking public transportation can be confusing for visitors.
- There are many non-official sites for the Dubai Metro, as well as an official one

Taxis are metered and relatively priced, but because Dubai is so large, they may become prohibitively costly. The starting fare is 3 AED, with a minimum charge of 10 AED per journey. After 10 p.m., a slightly higher evening rate is in effect. Those leaving the airport or cruise terminal face a steep 20 AED surcharge, which is prohibitively expensive. The fee is also applicable to itineraries that include a stop in Sharjah, as well. A tip should be given to your taxi driver by rounding your fare to the nearest 5 AED.
In addition to evening service, the Big Bus Company operates hop-on, hop-off (HOHO) services with a stop outside the airport terminal.

It’s possible that if you looked out to sea between the Palm Jumeirah and Bluewaters Island recently, you might have noticed two enormous new additions to the vista in the form of two cruise ships. The yachts have become the first to dock at the Dubai Cruise Terminal, which is located within Dubai Harbour. In accordance with Arab News, the cruise ships are operated by the German cruise company Aida Cruises. Currently, however, there are no people on board since the ships are parked at Dubai Cruise Terminal, which covers an area of more than 120,000 square meters and is being used as a test run until the tourist sector is fully resurrected.
- On each, there were some really out-there artwork, like enormous pink lips painted on the front and an eye with a wave pattern flowing out of it, which stretched down the side of the ship to the horizon.
- Since 2006, Aida ships have made port calls in the United Arab Emirates.
- Dubai Harbour was originally scheduled to open in October 2020, in time for Expo 2020, but it has not yet done so due to construction delays.
- The massive construction, which will cover an area of 20 million square feet, will serve as a luxury marine center.

About Dubai
A Ferrari whizzes past at 75 miles per hour on bustling Sheikh Zayed Road, the motorway that runs across the huge metropolis of Dubai and connects the ancient city with its contemporary eye-catching skylines. In this case, it’s a police car, which serves as a reminder that Dubai, a city frequently likened to Las Vegas, has plenty of sparkle. It has earned a well-deserved reputation as an oasis for cosmopolitan luxury visitors with a lot of money. Dubai is the second-largest and most developed of the seven United Arab Emirates, and it is also one of the most developed in the world.
But the pursuit of all things extravagant, from self-styled”seven star” luxury hotels and shopping malls with ski resorts to man-made islands built in the shapes of palm trees and continents – and the fact that the city’s skyline is now pierced by nearly 150 gleaming skyscrapers – is the city’s most distinguishing feature.
- (Princess diving was a significant industry until sophisticated forms of the sport became popular.) It is feasible – if time-consuming – to uncover remains of this distinctly Emirati heritage, but it will require effort.
- Nonetheless, it is the contemporary trappings that you will notice first, from the ultra-sophisticated Emirates jets that you no certainly landed on to the slick Dubai International Airport to the fact that everyone speaks English, that will catch your attention.
- New attractions are coming all the time, bringing a cultural depth to the more frivolous activities while also contributing to the whole experience.
- In addition, public shows of love are forbidden (no kissing your spouse), and gay passengers must maintain their discretion, as homosexuality is outlawed in the country (although this should not be an issue if you are coming by cruise ship, as you will not be checking into a hotel).
- (Be sure to bring copies of your doctor’s prescriptions with you.) Shorts and tank tops should not be worn in public places, even if they are appropriate for resorts.
- If you plan to visit mosques or do a lot of walking, bring long-sleeved tops, capris or long pants, as well as long skirts and dresses to keep you warm.
- Even if your cruise does not begin or end there, you will almost certainly spend the night there.
- Royal Caribbean International and Celebrity Cruises are also represented in this port throughout the winter.
