Flydubai (Arabic: ), officially known as Dubai Aviation Corporation (Arabic: ), is a government-owned low-cost airline based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, with its headquarters and flying operations based at Dubai International Airport’s Terminal 2. The airline has a total of 95 destinations across the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and Europe, all of which are served from Dubai. It is the company’s motto to “Get Going.”

History

The airline was created by the government of Dubai in July of that year. Despite the fact that Flydubai is not a member of the Emirates Group, Emirates provided assistance to Flydubai during its earlier stages of development. A firm order for 50 Boeing 737-800s with a total value of US$3.74 billion was signed by Flydubai and American aircraft manufacturer Boeing at the Farnborough International Air Show on July 14, 2008. The airline has the option to change its order for a larger and longer-rangeBoeing 737-900ER, depending on demand.

  • Service to Beirut in Lebanon and Amman in Jordan was launched on June 1st, with flights to both destinations.
  • On the 13th of February, Flydubai reported that it was in discussions with Boeing and Airbus about placing an order for 50 aircraft.
  • Among the features of the business class cabin are 12 seats between aisle and window, three-course meals, 12-inch screens, a business class lounge, Italian leather chairs, access to more than 200 films, and power outlets that are compatible with plugs from over 170 countries.
  • The event, according to the state-owned corporation, had a significant influence on its expansion plan because it possessed 11 of the aforementioned aircraft and had more than 220 more on order at the time of the occurrence.

FlyDubai announced on November 4, 2020, that it would begin offering direct flights between Tel Aviv and Dubai starting on November 26, 2020, with tickets going on sale the following day. This would be the first time a commercial flight route between Dubai and Tel Aviv will be established.

Corporate affairs

The firm was established on March 19, 2008, as a joint venture between the Government of Dubai and a private investor. Emirates Airlines is likewise owned by the Government of Dubai; however, this is the sole relationship between the two airlines other than their mutual ownership. Despite the fact that the airline had some assistance from its sister airline in the beginning, it has operated on its own since then. In addition, there was an early influx of executives, although the vast majority of the new hires came from outside the Emirati organization.

Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, the chairman of the firm and the chairman of the Emirates group, serves as its chairman.

Headquarters

Flights departing from Dubai International Airport are operated solely by Flydubai, which has its headquarters near Terminal 2 at Dubai International Airport and also has flights departing from Terminal 3 in addition to certain flights departing from Terminal 2. The future Al-Maktoum International Airport will be located in the Dubai World Centre in Jebel Ali, and flydubai originally planned to operate from there.

Development Centres

At the Hyderabad International Airport, Flydubai establishes its first ‘Indian Development Center’ (IDC). The center is in charge of flydubai’s information technology and technological innovation, which will be focused on passenger service systems (PSS). The International Data Corporation (IDC) will serve as a center for software development, research, and operations.
