You can establish a bank account and rent an apartment or other type of home while you are on a residency visa in the United Arab Emirates. Owning property is not permitted in your situation. Depending on whether you breach the law or whether your sponsor withdraws their support, you may be required to leave the country. In general, as long as you follow the law and have a good reputation, you should have no trouble renewing your resident visa every two years.

4 For the past 30 years, I’ve been living in the United Arab Emirates.

As a foreign national, you must have lawfully resided in the UAE for a minimum of 30 years before you are entitled to petition for citizenship in the United Arab Emirates. If you leave and then return, the time period may be reset.

During your 30 years (or longer) residence in the United Arab Emirates, refrain from breaking the law or getting into difficulty. In the event that you have a criminal record, you will not be eligible for citizenship. Aside from that, you must have been employed continually, generally by an Emirati employer.

5 Demonstrate strong moral integrity and a positive reputation in your community.
