Taking photos of your baby or toddler

When taking a photo of your infant or toddler, make sure that no other people are in the picture, and that your kid is looking directly at the camera with his or her eyes open as well.

Tip 1:	Lay your baby on his or her back on a plain white or off-white sheet. This will ensure your baby’s head is supported and provide a plain background for the photo. Make certain there are no shadows on your baby’s face, especially if you take a picture from above with the baby lying down.

Change of Appearance

If your photo(s) or digital image does not accurately depict your present look, even if it is not more than six months old, the U.S. embassy or consulate will require that you submit a fresh photo with your application to be considered. If any of the following conditions are met, applicants will be asked to submit a new photograph:

Have had substantial face surgery or trauma
Have added or removed numerous/large facial piercings or tattoos
Or have had severe facial surgery or trauma. You have experienced a substantial quantity of weight reduction or increase. Made the decision to transition from one gender to another

In most cases, if the photo you submitted with your visa application can still be used to identify you, you will not be required to submit a new photo.
