At terms of land size, the Dubai Mall is the world’s largest shopping mall, and I was intrigued to see what it was like to shop in a place with more than 10 million square feet of space in a city that is often considered to be one of the most affluent places on the planet. However, unlike its competitor Mall of the Emirates, which I visited while there and tried out the ski slope, it does offer a large aquarium and access to the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest structure, which is a nice bonus.

Leaving turned out to be a huge struggle — again. We needed to find a certain hotel connected to the mall to get to the bar on top of the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, but neither the app, Google Maps, nor the information screens were any help.
