Dubai Aquarium andUn derwater Zoo

The Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo, located in the Dubai Mall, is home to the world’s cutest pair of otter, who were a definite hit with visitors. As we wandered around in the tunnel that provided us with a spectacular view of the aquarium, we could see rays and sharks swimming above our heads. What is the most memorable experience at the zoo? We were all surprised when the voice of a zoo guide said, “The King Croc here weighs 750 kgs and we feed him every day at 4 p.m.” Many of us assumed it was a fake at first, but it turned out to be real.

Along with turtles and glass catfish, there was also a large cage for penguins. Despite this, it was impossible to get my mind off the vision of the gigantic crocodile that was lurking in the corner of the mall!

When we return, we find a swarm of children and adults gathered around a bunch of penguins that have just waddled out onto the ice.

When we meet the adorable, fluffy penguin, the Penguin trainer says, “He loves hugs,” and we can see that he is right.

Wild Wadi Water Park

In Jumeirah, there is a water park called Wild Wadi, which is near to the beach and offers roughly 30 rides to choose from. Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo – meet the animals

I’ve always had a soft spot for animals. When I was a little kid in school, I’d anxiously await my turn to take home the class hamster for a week at a time. It was a wonderful period of time. Then, when the big day finally arrived – to to the dismay of my parents, who had the unenviable chore of cleaning out the cage – I was, shall we say, unimpressed by the experience. It turns out that hamsters aren’t all that interesting. It wouldn’t let me take it out of its cage unless it was sleeping or eating, which was pretty much all day, every day.

  • Not really the Wild Thornberrys experience I had in mind (those of you who grew up in the 1990s will understand).
  • I did have a golden Labrador named Troy, but that was a contentious topic.
  • You might be asking yourself this question.
  • Whatever my dismal experiences with various animals have been, I have never lost up hope in them.
  • It is possible to touch otters, feed stingrays, and see the crocodiles being fed by professionals from within their enclosure as part of the experience.
  • I make the decision to give them all a go.
  • I begin my day with a visit to the crocodiles.

It’s never a good idea to get in a fight with a crocodile; just look at what happened to poor Captain Hook.

Then I’m strapped into a harness and tied down to a cable before ascending a steep stairway into the crocodiles’ den, which is elevated above the river on a balcony in case someone decides to go all Crocodile Dundee and leap over the barrier.

More over five metres long and weighing 750kg, King Croc is the equal of the weight of more than 15 fully grown men, according to some estimates.

Unfortunately, like the class hamster, he is a one-trick pony who does nothing.

Perhaps you’re a birdwatcher.

His food is strictly controlled and consists of around 12 pounds of chicken, beef, or fish every day, according to the staff.

If I’m being really honest, this is perhaps the most interesting portion of the hour-long interaction.

A tub of little fish is handed to me as I’m standing on a platform with water only up to my knees.

This stage is rather enjoyable; they simply suck the fish directly from my palm — it has the sensation of being sucked up by a vacuum.

Because the rays’ barbs (the portion that hurts you) have been removed, I am completely safe throughout the dive.

Throughout each interaction, staff members provide intriguing facts about the animals, many of which are surprising (for example, did you know that crocodiles can spend up to a year without eating?

I had anticipated that I would be able to play with him after seeing images of him at the Aquarium where he was stretching his little hand out to tourists, but it turns out that I will only be able to pet him while the staff looks on.

Maybe I’ll give horse whispering a shot the next time. Dhs200 per participant, per encounter is the price to pay. Daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Dubai Aquarium is a marine aquarium located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The Dubai Mall’s Underwater Zoo is located in Downtown Dubai (448 5200).
