Sole DXB is an annual footwear, music, art, and lifestyle event that takes place in theDubai Design District in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and is organized by the Dubai Design District. The event was first held in 2011, and the most recent edition took place from December 7 to 9, 2017. For more information, see their website. Nike, Adidas, Puma, Reebok, and other well-known brands have all set up shop at the event. Additionally, Hiroshi Fujiwara and Pusha T have spoken at the event, as well as Skepta, Hamdan Al Abri, and a slew of other musicians and speakers.

History

Hussain Moloobhoy, Joshua Cox, Kris Balerite, and Rajat Malhotra created Sole DXB in 2010 with the help of other like-minded individuals. The inaugural Sole DXB event, dubbed a “sneaker summit,” took place on February 24, 2011, at thejamjar, a warehouse art gallery in Dubai’sAl Quozneighborhood. The event was free and open to the public. Nike, Adidas, Puma, Vans, and DC (among others) were among the brands that showed at the event. A showing of the short film, The Mystery of the Flying Kicks, as well as performances by a range of local artists and DJs were also part of the festivities.

  • It was held on April 27, 2012, in eight separate galleries and two warehouses on Al Serkal Avenue in Al Quoz, and it was the second Sole DXB event.
  • Nash Money, a sneaker designer, also made a specially designed shoe for the occasion.
