Officials in the United Arab Emirates have announced that the country would reduce its working week to four and a half days and move its weekend from Friday-Saturday to Saturday-Sunday, as part of a major change aimed at strengthening the country’s competitiveness. The “national working week,” which will be required for government organizations starting on January 1, will deviate from the regional practice of taking a full day off on Friday to attend Muslim prayers. While the UAE will become the only Gulf state to not enjoy a Friday-Saturday weekend, the decision will bring the resource-rich and ambitious country more in line with the rest of the globe, including the United States.

Art exhibition

The Otolith Group’s Xenogenesis exhibition first opened in the United Arab Emirates in November, but it is now only open for a few more weeks. UAE residents work on a Friday for the first time; Saturday-Sunday to be weekends

Residents of the United Arab Emirates began their first working week on Friday, as the country transitioned from weekend weekends to Saturday-Sunday weekends. The UAE government has declared that the working week would be changed starting on January 1, 2022. Employees in the public sector were required to work four and a half days a week from Monday through Thursday, with Friday being a half-day. Weekend holidays have been instituted in the UAE, and schools will follow a similar schedule. Weekends in the United Arab Emirates began early on Friday and Saturday.

According to the administration, the long weekend would “increase productivity while also improving work-life balance.” Working days for private firms were permitted to be Monday through Friday, with the option to modify their working days at any time.

Citizens have been adhering to COVID-19 regulations, with many opting to stay in their homes. Following the modifications, the government decided to relocate Friday prayers to 1.15 p.m. for the foreseeable future. (With contributions from several agencies)

Dubai expats, no matter where you’re from, your parents/friends (or that new person who says, “Oh, you live in Dubai now?”) will be impressed by your lifestyle. I’ve always wanted to pay a visit to you guys!) If they come to visit, you will be required to show them the greatest of Dubai’s attractions. Even if you are simply passing through or on vacation (in which case I strongly advise you to stay longer! ), here are the essential things you MUST do in Dubai in a weekend, including sightseeing, excellent cuisine, breathtaking vistas, and some humble braggadocio (let’s withdraw some gold from the ATM!) We’re off to a good start!

• Take a stroll about the neighborhood, sip on some traditional Arabic tea, perhaps accompanied by a shisha, and immerse yourself in the classic Dubai that most people are unaware of.
• For dinner and drinks on Friday night, we’ll head back to the “New Dubai” neighborhood.
• Visit the Madinat Jumeirah, which has been dubbed “Dubai’s Fake Souk” (see our video for more information!) and stop at one of the numerous eateries for a food and a drink.
• I would definitely recommend it!

The next morning on Saturday: Tours of the magnificent Jumeirah Mosque are available every day from Saturday to Thursday at 10 a.m.

Remember to arrive around 9.45am because it is generally rather crowded at that time.
