We also avoided fast food restaurants such as KFC and McDonald’s. We ate most of our meals at eateries along The Walk or in one of the shopping centers. The cost of lunch or supper ranged from 240 to 500 AED (60 to 125 EUR) for two adults and three children, depending on where we went.

There was a little grocery near our hotel, The Walk, and the costs of food there were pretty comparable to those in Western Europe.

The price of a ticket to the Burj Khalifa is the same at the counter as it is online, however if you don’t book in advance, there is a good risk that you will not be able to get a ticket at certain times.
If you haven’t made a reservation, consider going early in the morning or late in the evening when it’s less crowded. At night, the Dubai Fountain Show may be seen from the Burj Khalifa.
Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo

I spent money on things that were truly important to me while saving money on other things. Listed below is a detailed breakdown of the prices of various items in Dubai.
Flights: $500
Okay, there isn’t much to say about this. Because, as you might imagine, we’ll all be arriving and departing from various points throughout the world. My flights from Beijing to Dubai, and then from Dubai to Kuala Lumpur, amounted to roughly $500 total, which was a bargain.
Accommodation: $680
According to my calculations, $680 for 14 nights in Dubai was a really good price. The whole cost, including Airbnb fees, comes to around $48.57 per night. Because hotels are too costly and I don’t want to stay in hostels, I always reserve Airbnbs when traveling. I stayed with a nice young Indian family in the Kamara area, which is a residential Indian community.
- Even though they share a bathroom, they have a daily cleaner who ensures that it is always clean.
- I was wondering whether to stay here or in a room just adjacent to the Dubai Mall when I booked my reservation (which was a tad more expensive, and the room was literally a box).
- From there, taking public transit was convenient and straightforward.
- Despite the fact that it was a little out of the way, I enjoyed being in a local neighborhood and experiencing another side of Dubai that wasn’t just fancy structures.

Wow, I had no idea how much money I was spending on meals, but it turns out that it only amounts to $20 every day. You are free to spend as little or as much money as you wish on meals! I made a point of balancing off more expensive dinners with less expensive meals. The Mövenpick for brunch ($70): Let’s start with the splurges, shall we? Visiting one of Dubai’s world-famous weekend brunches was a must-do on my itinerary. Andrea was able to locate a more affordable option for us for “just” 250 AED.

–Desert safari ($132): The desert safari ($132) was the only major extravagance here (see excellent pics and information!). However, I chose one of the most costly options since it was precisely what I was looking for. I chose a morning dawn safari because it included more of the things I was interested in. It is possible to go on a desert safari for far less money, so don’t be concerned. You can witness the sunset while also enjoying supper and traditional dance entertainment on most typical evening safaris, which cost between 120 AED and 180 AED ($32-50 US).

This appears to be a tad expensive in Dubai, in my opinion. Let’s take it step by step. –Transport from/to the airport ($26.50):It cost me 60 AED ($17 US) to go from the airport to my Airbnb. which is just 15 minutes away, so this was a significant expense. Because cabs are required to pay a parking charge, getting out of the airport is quite expensive. The cost of traveling to and from the airport is approximately half of the cost of traveling within the city. I paid 35 AED ($9.50 US) to be transported to the airport at the conclusion of the tour.
- So if you don’t mind hauling your luggage around, you could simply go ahead and do it.
- Afterwards, you might take a cab (or walk) from the nearest train station to your place of abode.
- Because I was only going to be there for two weeks, I placed 80 AED ($23 US) onto my Visa card.
- The metro costs around 5 AED ($1.35 US) each ride on average.
- –Taxis during my stay ($24.50): I used a cab a few occasions during my visit (after late nights and in Abu Dhabi).

This seems a little excessively expensive in Dubai, in my opinion. To simplify things, here’s what we’ll do: –Transport from/to the airport ($26.50):It cost me 60 AED ($17 US) to go from the airport to my Airbnb. which is only 15 minutes away, so this was a good deal. Because cabs must pay a parking charge, getting out of the airport is quite costly. It is around half the cost to go to the airport. The cost of transportation to and from the airport was 35 AED ($9.50 US). Even though I chose to use a cab to save time and effort, the metro system connects the airport to downtown.
- Only 5 AED is required to use the metro into the city center.
- –Metro card ($23): The subway card may be used on both the metro and the bus system in New York.
- My estimation was correct, since I only had 3 AED left on my card when I left!
- It was also possible for me to go by bus, which cost around 3 AED every journey (80 cents).
- They appear to be rather costly.
- I could have just as easily walked to the metro station and ridden it instead, if I weren’t so lazy.

It’s a piece of cake! A lot of my walking was done on the treadmill as well. For the most part, if it takes roughly 30 minutes to walk from a metro station to a destination, I’ll simply walk there. The time of year I visited was also a good time to visit because it wasn’t yet too hot.
Miscellaneous: $33
–Data card ($27): The data card for the phone was the most expensive item in this category. Etisalat is the major telecommunications provider in Dubai. Their visiting plan, which includes 700 MB of data and 14 minutes of calling, costs 100 AED. It was a little pricey, but oh well. It is an absolute need. In the Burj Khalif gift store at the summit, I purchased a postcard for my loving ex-boss back in the United States. I haven’t gotten around to mailing it yet. –Daiso ($2): Daiso is a Japanese word that means “daisy.” I was looking for anything random and I found it.
By the conclusion of the trip, I had just 10 AED left, so I used it to buy candies at the airport before flying home.
Other notes/tips about $$ in Dubai
- Credit cards (Visa or Mastercard) are widely accepted in almost all situations. I was able to pay with my credit card at any restaurant that wasn’t a little neighborhood joint. Because my credit card does not charge international transaction fees, this was a big benefit for me, as tipping is customary in Dubai. It is customary to leave a 10 percent tip, which means that your meals will be slightly more expensive
- Taxis may only be paid in cash. Some cabs feature a credit card swiper device, but you never appear to be able to use it to pay for your cab ride. It appears that the only items for which I need cash were taxis and the little local eateries in the vicinity of my Airbnb.
