A guide to which area to stay in Dubai in 2022

Dubai, the most popular tourist destination in the Middle East, is a massive metropolis with a population of over 10 million people. It has a population of 3.1 million people who live over a wide area of 4,114 square kilometers. To give you an example, Madrid is another large metropolis with the same number of inhabitants as Dubai, but it has a land area of just 600km2, which is seven times less than Dubai. This implies that there is a lot of vacant area in Dubai, and the distances between the various locations are quite large.

Apart from that, the many districts and localities of Dubai are quite distinct from one another, boasting an array of distinct attractions and activities as well as vastly disparate cost of living levels.

For example, if you want to be near to the beach in Marina, which is the most popular tourist destination, but you are on a tight budget and choose to stay in the Old City, you should be aware that the travel from the Old City to Marina is around 30 kilometers long.

This guide will inform you where to stay in Dubai based on what you want to do as a visitor and, of course, your financial constraints.

The relatively new neighborhood of Dubai Marina and JBR is the most Westernized portion of the city, and it is also, in my view, the greatest spot to stay in Dubai. It is basically the only decently walkable part of the new Dubai, and it is the most Westernized part of the city. JBR refers to the beach, the promenade, and all of the buildings that are in the first row of the beachfront development.

The majority of European expats prefer to reside here since it is the most convenient area to live, with a wide variety of bar selections and no tight rules, such as those governing how women dress at the beach.

This is a place where you can finally get a taste of real culture because it is mostly populated by Indians (and has been since it was formed).

  1. Keep in mind that this is not the entire city; rather, it is merely the portion that is of interest to tourists.
  2. This is the most important line in terms of relevance for travellers (there is only one other line, Green).
  3. The distance between the bottom of the map (which is near Marina and JLT) and the top of the map (which is near the airport) is roughly 30 kilometers.
  4. In actuality, this is not the whole length of Dubai, as it continues several kilometers to the south (towards the second airport, DWC, which is mostly an industrial and residential region) and a few kilometers beyond the northern airport (DXB), where the Emirate of Sharjah starts.

Deira (Light Green, North, 1)

The Park Hyatt Dubai, the best hotel on the Deira side of Dubai, is a five-star establishment. Deira is the old area of Dubai, not the one that most people are familiar with. It is predominantly a lower/middle-income residential district, but it also has a large concentration of lower-priced hotels and is a highly vibrant location, having formerly been known as “Downtown” for more than 25 years. This is the place to go if you want to get a feel for Dubai before the skyscrapers took over the city.

The Deira side of Dubai Creek offers some of the most spectacular views of the towers of the new Dubai development.

The Spice Souq is a market for spices and fragrances.

In the vicinity of Deira Dubai Safari Park is a fantastic zoo that includes a safari experience.

Dubai Although Bur Dubai officially encompasses a considerably greater region south of the creek than is seen on the map, when people refer to the area shaded on the map, they are referring to the shaded area on the map (and are referring to the areas of Karama, Mankhool, Jafiliya, Raffa or even Satwa). This neighborhood has a similar atmosphere to Deira and has a big South Asian population.

  1. Additionally, it contains the oldest historical districts in the world (Fahidi/Bastakiya).
  2. Previously known as “downtown,” this area has some of the city’s most densely populated areas, and it was designated as such 15 years ago.
  3. Located on the banks of Dubai Creek, Al Seef is a stunning retail and food and beverage complex that successfully integrates the modern and historical elements of the city.
  4. Using a Cable Car

A substantial South Asian population and a similar ambiance as Deira characterize this neighborhood, which is mostly in the lower to mid-range price bracket.

You may visit this site if you want to see what Dubai looked like fifty years ago.

Tourist Attractions of note include: A delightful heritage quarter with ancient buildings and beautiful tiny lanes, the Al Fahidi and Bastakiya districts are located in the heart of Cairo.

Business Bay (Green zone in North cluster encircling the Black Downtown zone, 7)

You are officially in Business Bay if you walk 5 metres outside of the Boulevard and into the parking lot. Although this region is somewhat bigger, it covers the most of the “downtown” commercial districts of Downtown (with the exception of Finance/Banking/Law, which is located in DIFC, and Technology/Media, which is located in Media+Internet City). It is also a high-end residential area with a large number of skyscrapers and a large number of international chain 5 star hotels that are more affordable (than those in Downtown).

The La Perle water theatre has one of the top set and stage designs in the world.

Image courtesy of the Jumeirah Group The term Jumeirah is one of the most often used in Dubai, and it can be found in a number of different neighborhoods, companies, and places. However, when someone mentions Jumeirah without any more explanation, they are referring to the coastline area depicted on the map above.

On the non-seaside, all of the hotels enjoy beautiful views of the city skyline or the water.

Citywalk is a beautiful open-air F B complex and street mall that is meant to be modeled by British architecture.

Madinat Jumeirah — a must-see canal complex with heritage architecture, shops, fine dining, and ultra-luxurious hotel options, reminiscent of an Arabian Venice, is a must-see.

The Burj Al Arab is a world-famous, landmark hotel in Dubai. In terms of waterparks in Dubai, Wild Wadi is unquestionably the greatest.

Hipster/Arts zone (8)

It is a welcome respite between the two different skylines of Dubai, but it contains little of interest to tourists.except for Al Quoz (the official name of the area), which is home to Dubai’s hipster/arts/cafe/play/comedy scene, and the industrial-looking warehouses actually contain stunning art galleries, steampunk displays, record shops, boutiques, cafes, and drama clubs.

Barsha + Barsha Heights (Red zone in South, 10 and 11)

The Mall of Emirates is a shopping mall in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Photo courtesy of the MAF Group There are several decent upmarket reasonably priced hotel alternatives in Barsha and Barsha Heights, and it is a fantastic spot to stay if you want to be closer to Dubai’s southern region without going overboard on your spending limit. With a large number of F B possibilities, both are thick enough to seem vibrant. High rises dominate Barsha, whilst low rises predominate in Barsha Heights (hence the name).

Make careful to stay near to the metro line since the density and bustle diminishes dramatically as you travel further inland (as it becomes more residential).

Only available during the winter monthsIMG World of Adventure is an indoor theme park that is completely enclosed — with the exception of the roller coasters, of course.

Internet City and Media City (Black zone in South, 12)

Dubai Internet City and Media City are the other key components of Dubai’s economic hub, together with the Dubai International Financial Center (the other being the DIFC-Downtown-Business Bay belt). The regional headquarters of all of the major technology, media, advertising, and associated firms are located in this area. Among the most popular tourist destinations are: There are none within the confines of this location, but there are numerous in the surrounding area.

Palm (brown zone in south cluster, 15)

Anantara Palm is a luxury resort in the Maldives. Image courtesy of Anantara.com The Atlantis Palm is a kind of palm tree found in Atlantis, Greece. AtlantisthePalm.com is the website. Technically, the Palm Jumeirah, however it is most commonly referred to as the ‘Palm’. There is a lot of high-end residences (including large billionaire houses) in the fronds (the ‘branches’ of the tree) and a lot of high-end beach resorts in the perimeter encircling the tree, including the famed Atlantis hotel at the tip of the Palm.

However, from the West/South Palm as well as the western stem (central area) of the Palm, one can enjoy spectacular views of the Marina cityscape (which, in my opinion, is superior than the Downtown/SZR skyline and provides some of the greatest views in Dubai).

Wild Wadi in Jumeirah is the greatest water park in the area, as previously said. The best aquarium is located at the Dubai Mall, which was previously mentioned. The Pointe – F B complex, which will have water fountains near Atlantis, is scheduled to debut in late 2018.

Dubai Marina (Dark Green zone, south cluster, 13)

Anantara Palm is a resort in the Maldives that offers luxurious accommodations. Anantara.com provided the image. The Palm of Atlantis. AtlantisthePalm.com is the website for this product. The Palm Jumeirah is the official name, however it is more commonly known to as the ‘Palm’ in general. There is a lot of high-end residences (including gigantic billionaire houses) in the fronds (the ‘branches’ of the tree) and a lot of high-end beach resorts in the perimeter encircling the tree, including the world-famous Atlantis hotel at the tip of the Palm.

On the other hand, views of the Marina skyline (which, in my opinion, is superior than the Downtown/SZR skyline and the greatest views in Dubai) can be had from the West/South Palm as well as the western stem (central section) of the Palm.

The Aquaventure water park and the Lost Kingdom aquarium are both excellent attractions in their own right, but neither is the greatest in Dubai in my estimation.

It was previously mentioned that the greatest aquarium is located in Dubai Mall.

JLT (Light Green zone, south cluster, 14)

Marina’s decent high-rise residential neighbor is located next door. The hotels in this area are more affordable while still providing quick access to Marina, the metro line, and a dense network of food and beverage options directly downstairs. The Dubai Marina and all of its attractions are among the most popular tourist destinations in the world. Dubai is a genuinely large market for hotels, with over 100 5 star properties, with more being built at a rapid rate to meet demand. We are now working on follow-up articles that will examine these choices in further depth.

  1. Other possibilities include the Sheraton Grand, Sheraton Grand, and Aloft Deira.
  2. There are two excellent Hilton alternatives: the Waldorf Palm and the Conrad (although they do not compare favorably with the Marriott options, nor do most of the other chains; you should seriously consider abandoning brand allegiance in this area).
  3. The Grand Hyatt (which has been more recently rebuilt than Park Hyatt) is the best Hyatt, yet both are in subpar locations.
  4. The Wyndham Dubai Marina or its newer neighboring West Bay resort are the best Wyndhams in the city (opening in few weeks).
  5. A special mention should go to Ibis Styles Jumeriah, which is both inexpensive and wonderful.
  6. The Anantara Palm and the Jumeriah Al Naseem are two of the greatest resorts from smaller brands in the region (and two of the best overall, especially for hard product).

Excellent boutique alternatives include Nikki Beach, Jumeirah Al Seef (creek), and Zabeel House Al Seef (for a reasonable price), among others. The two ‘OneOnly’ resorts and the Four Seasons Jumeirah Beach are the most luxurious alternatives available in the area.

Conclusion:

Make sure you set aside a significant amount of time for Dubai.or plan numerous trips. It is without a doubt one of the most densely populated tourist destinations in the world (in terms of attractions, things to see and do), with plenty to offer everyone. Dubai’s Al Qasr is known as “The Palace.” Literally. The Al Qasr Hotel is located in the heart of the city. When compared to the city’s luxurious Burj Al Arab and Atlantis resorts, the Atlantis is a bargain. The Palm Hotel, Al Qasr, which translates as “The Palace,” has a definite Arabic character (Persian carpets and elaborate oil lamps), but it is not a replica of Ali Baba’s grotto in the traditional sense of the term. When you approach the lobby, the aroma of freshly cut rose petals, which have been sprinkled into a central pool, smacks you right in the face, and the apartments have views of Arabesque rivers and the Persian Gulf as their backdrop.
