This is a tougher topic to answer because there are now few to no direct flights between the United States and Thailand. Travelers will very certainly be required to take stopover flights. Several international centers, such as Hong Kong, Incheon, and Dubai, may be found in the preceding list; among them are Beijing and Shanghai. And these hubs are served by excellent airlines such as Cathay Pacific, Emirate, Korean Air, and Thai Airways (all of which are ranked among the top 25 airlines in the world by Skytrax), who provide numerous flights to Thailand.
That is, the travel from Los Angeles to Hong Kong takes 14-15 hours, followed by a 2.5-hour flight to Thailand.
It takes around 14 hours to go to Dubai, then another 6.5 hours to get to Thailand.

Dumb question about flight times and the dateline – Thailand Forum
Re: Dumb question concerning flight timings and the time zone difference 12 years ago today Hi, It is difficult to grasp the idea of “time” and the associated loses and gains while crossing the dateline unless you have done it on a regular basis before. Do you think you’ve lost a “whole day”? In a nutshell, sure. Is it going to be a full day? That is dependent on where and when you began your journey; but, because I am assuming you are departing from the United States, there are no carriers—and thus no way—for you to travel to Bangkok and arrive on the SAME calendar day that you left the United States.
For the majority of us, particularly in the United States, time is expressed in terms of the three primary time zones that the United States mainland encompasses (notably excluding AK and HI and addition to all territories and possessions).
Take a look at this map, which shows the timezones throughout the globe in a graphical manner.
The only way I know of to still leave on Friday and arrive on SUNDAY would be to fly to Asia (still westbound) from the United States, but you would have to leave the United States very close to midnight on Friday night- in that case, you would arrive in Asia TWO days later, in the early hours of the morning on Sunday.
Travel to Thailand from UAE
Question concerning flight timings and the dateline, in response to 5. 12 years have passed since then. Hi, Unless you’ve done it a lot, the idea of “time” and the losses and benefits associated with crossing the dateline might be difficult to grasp. Do you have to miss work for a “whole day”? Overall, the answer is “yes.” Is it going to be a long day of meetings? The answer is dependent on where and when you began your journey; however, because I’m assuming you’re departing from the United States, there are no carriers—and thus no way—for you to travel to Bangkok and arrive on the SAME calendar day as you left the United States.
We, particularly in the United States, conceive of time in terms of the three primary time zones that the United States mainland encompasses (see Figure 1).
Then sawadeeka is correct- in essence, your trip is *forward* of your time, which means you have to ADD time (and the idea of *losing time* comes into play as a consequence).
Assuming usual transit and connecting times, if you depart from the United States on Friday lunchtime for Bangkok, you will arrive in Bangkok on SUNDAY night, very near to midnight.
To leave on Friday and arrive on Sunday, the only way I know of is to fly into Asia (still westbound) from the United States, but you would have to leave the United States very close to midnight on Friday night, in which case you would arrive in Asia TWO days later, in the early hours of Sunday morning.
