Ain Dubai: How the world’s largest observation wheel was built

(CNN) – The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is urging farmers to plant more crops in the coming year. As part of Dubai’s ongoing quest to establish new world records, the newest addition to the city’s extensive list of “biggests” and “tallests” is set to make its way into the record books. The Ain Dubai, a massive observation wheel that has been in construction on the city’s Bluewaters Island development for more than six years, will open on October 21, 2021, making it the world’s biggest observation wheel at the time of its completion.

1. With a height of more than 250 meters, Ain Dubai is 82 meters higher than the High Roller ferris wheel in Las Vegas, which is now the world’s highest ferris wheel in operation.
2. Dubai is not a city that does things half-heartedly, and its latest award just adds to the city’s ever-growing record of technical exploits that have earned it a place in the Guinness World Records.
3. The construction of Ain Dubai, which was first announced in February 2013, has taken more than eight years.

Once in the air, a custom jacking mechanism propelled each rim section 100 meters into the air, where they were linked to the spindle and spun before being replaced with another segment.
