10 of the Tallest Hotels in the World

The Middle East and Asia are the regions where the world’s tallest hotels may be located in the majority of cases. In the sky, they tower above everything, occasionally piercing the white fluffy bottoms of clouds with their sharp talons. They provide passengers with the opportunity to stand high above and look down over magnificent cities or stunning bodies of water, giving them the sensation of being on top of the world for a few second or two.

If you’re not frightened of heights, we strongly advise you to stay at one of the world’s highest hotels, such as the One World Observatory (pun intended).

1. JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai

The JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai/Oyster Bay is a luxury hotel with a beachfront location. The JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai holds the global record for being the world’s highest building. It is 1,165 feet tall from the ground to the pinnacle of the structure in Dubai. It was designed by Ashok Korgaonkar, and the first tower, which opened in 2012, was the first to be completed. Today, the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai is a sleek five-pearl facility with a clean and modern style that caters mostly to business travelers and couples on a short business trip.

It also boasts an on-site spa and 8,000 square feet of conference and event space.

2. Park Hyatt Shanghai

When it comes to height, the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai holds the global record as being the world’s tallest building. It stands 1,165 feet tall in Dubai, measured from the ground to the top of the structure. With the first tower launching in 2012, the project was designed by Ashok Korgaonkar. The luxury facility, which is 1,093 feet tall and has 462 suites and rooms, is located in Dubai, just a 12-minute drive away from the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai, which is the world’s highest hotel at 1,063 feet. 4. The Ritz Carlton, Hong Kong

The Ritz Carlton, Hong Kong/Oyster Bay is a luxury hotel in Hong Kong. At 1,608 feet above sea level, the Ritz Carlton, Hong Kong offers the world’s tallest bar, which is much higher than the top of the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai. However, unlike the Park Hyatt Shanghai, The Ritz Carlton, Hong Kong only occupies the top 17 floors of the International Commerce Center in Hong Kong, making its claim to being the world’s tallest hotel a bit questionable. Despite such technicalities, it’s impossible not to be charmed by the views from the indoor pool, suites, and restaurants – at least when the weather isn’t gloomy, which is the majority of the time.

Due to its location in Tsim Sha Tsui’s business district, it is not the most convenient option for leisure visitors on holiday. However, the hotel is reasonably priced.

5. Baiyoke Sky Hotel

Located in Hong Kong’s Oyster Bay, The Ritz Carlton is a luxury hotel. It is 1,608 feet above sea level, and it is located at the Ritz Carlton, Hong Kong, which has the world’s tallest bar. This is much higher than the top of the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai. As is the case with the Park Hyatt Shanghai, the Ritz Carlton, Hong Kong, occupies just the top 17 floors of the International Commerce Center in Hong Kong, giving it a murky claim to being the “tallest” in the city. Although there are some technicalities, it’s impossible not to be wowed with the views from the indoor pool, the rooms, and the restaurants – at least when it isn’t foggy.

6. Four Seasons Hotel Guangzhou

The views of the Pearl River are particularly spectacular from Catch, a seafood restaurant on the 100th floor with spectacular views of the river.

7. 85 Sky Tower Hotel

The 85 Sky Tower Hotel/Oyster Bar has a great view. The views from the 85 Sky Tower Hotel, which has a contemporary style and modest facilities, are the nicest feature about this establishment. It is located in Taiwan’s New Bay Area, in the city of Kaohsiung, and is 1,240 feet tall. The rooms are a little simple in terms of décor, but they all have bay views, some of which are from as high as 70 storeys. The View Deck, which is located on the 74th level, has breathtaking views that are perfect for taking images for Instagram.

8. Grand Hyatt Shanghai

Some of the rooms have views of the Bund throughout the day. The bar Cloud 9 has 360-degree panoramic views, while Club Jin Mao provides views of the city skyline. Business tourists like the pool, gym, and several conference rooms on the premises, however it is also a good destination for holidaymakers thanks to a close metro stop.

9. Residence Inn New York Manhattan/Central Park

Oyster Bar & Grill at the Residence Inn New York Manhattan/Central Park When compared to the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai, the Residence Inn New York Manhattan/Central Park, which stands at 753 feet tall, doesn’t appear to be as stunning as it should be. However, the fact that it is 753 feet tall makes it particularly spectacular in the United States, and it is consequently the highest hotel in the country. A five-minute walk from Central Park and a 10-minute stroll from Times Square, the hotel first opened its doors to guests in 2013.

The hotel has a modern design with rooms that have kitchenettes and floor-to-ceiling windows to enjoy the view. The fact that a hotel in New York City provides complimentary breakfast buffets and Wi-Fi is also a terrific amenity.

10. Burj Al Arab

In addition to the Burj Al Arab and the Oyster, Dubai is home to several of the world’s highest buildings, including the Burj Al Arab. The hotel, which stands at 1,053 feet tall, was meant to seem like a billowing Arabian Dhow sail, hence the name. The Burj Al Arab may not be the world’s highest hotel, but it does boast the world’s tallest atrium, which is the tallest in the world. Dubai Is Building the World’s Tallest Hotel (Again)

Dubai is not a city that is known for resting on its achievements. In less than two years after the city was awarded the Guinness World Record for possessing the world’s highest hotel, another building plans to seize its neighbor’s position as the world’s tallest structure. The Ciel Tower in Dubai, which will stand 1,182 feet tall when completed, is scheduled to open in 2023. The Gevora Hotel, which rises to a height of 1,168 feet, will be displaced as the world’s highest hotel by this structure.

  1. A glass observation deck (complete with rooftop pool) will be located on the roof, providing panoramic views of the city.
  2. In order to be awarded the title of “world’s tallest hotel,” the structure must be wholly dedicated to the provision of hospitality services.
  3. The Rosewood Guangzhou has the title of “world’s tallest hotel,” which is actually a misnomer.
  4. Although the Ciel Tower is tall, it pales in contrast to Dubai’s (and the world’s) tallest structure, the Burj Khalifa, which stands at 1,717 meters.
  5. Even that will not be able to maintain its position for long.

The Dubai Creek Tower, which is only a few kilometers away, has the potential to reach a final, world-record-breaking height of 4,265 feet upon completion, which is due this year. The height will not be announced until the day of the opening in order to keep the title for a longer period of time.

New world’s tallest hotel to open in Dubai

A new hotel due to open in Dubai in March is expected to surpass the JW Marriott Marquis, which now holds the title of world’s tallest hotel. As part of the Dubai Trade Centre district, the Gevora tower will rise to a height of 365 metres over Sheikh Zayed Road. The hotel will have 528 rooms and will be spread across 75 storeys. Additionally, the hotel will include four dining options, which will include an all-day dining restaurant, café, Mediterranean restaurant, and pool bar, which will be placed on the 71st floor in addition to a fitness club and luxury spa.

  • There are three world-class hotels in Dubai already, with the Burj Al Arab (321 metres, 60 stories) and the Rose Rayhaan by Rotana (333 metres, 72 floors) joining the JW Marriott Marquis on the list of world’s highest dedicated hotels.
  • The developer of the Burj is now constructing the US$1 billion Dubai Creek Tower, which, when finished in 2020, would exceed the Burj Khalifa as the world’s highest structure, surpassing the Burj itself.
  • Designed by famous Spanish-Swiss architect Santiago Calatrava Valls, who established his reputation constructing iconic projects such as the City of Arts and Sciences complex in Valencia, Spain, the edifice is a sight to see.
  • Located near Dubai Creek Tower, the project is slated to open in late 2020, just a few months after it.

I visited the top of the tallest building in the world, and it was a colossal waste of time

  • As the capital of the United Arab Emirates, the city of Dubai is renowned for its spectacular, recently constructed structures, such as the Burj Khalifa, the Palm Jumeirah, and the Dubai Mall. Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, is 2,717 feet tall and has 160 stories, dominating the skyline of the city. Although it boasts an observation deck on the 124th level, visiting the top of the Burj Khalifa is grueling, overhyped, and, simply, uninteresting. While the Burj Khalifa is a wonder from below, climbing to its summit is an arduous, overhyped, and, frankly, boring experience. While the observatory is small, the climb to the top is excruciatingly lengthy, and the view is little to write home about, the experience is still worthwhile. The building ofoutlandish landmarks like the Burj Khalifa was key to the plan.Towering over the city, at 2,717 feet tall with 160 floors, theBurj Khalifa became the tallest tower in the world when it openedin 2010. It also holds Guinness World Records titles for thetallest human-made structureand thehighest restaurant. Ithad the tallest observation deckuntil 2015.Dubai’s strategy of building extravagant landmarks is paying off.The city is climbing in the ranks of the most visited cities –it’s now fourth andprojected to see 16.7 million visitorsthis year, according to Mastercard’s Global Destination Cities Index. The Burj Khalifa has been a major part of that growth – US NewsWorld Reportranked it as the No. 5 attraction in Dubai. When I visited the city for the first time in November in2018, I knew I had to go. But afterspending $40anda couple of lackluster hours on the observation deck, I waswishing I had skipped going inside and just enjoyed the view frombelow. Here’s what it was like.

To visit the Burj Khalifa, you have to buy a ticket for a certain date and time. The price depends on the time. If you want to go around 5 p.m. (sunset), it could be as much as $60. I decided to go around 7 p.m., costing me $40.

Photograph courtesy of the source Submitted by Harrison Jacobs of Business Insider Even though the Burj Khalifa is a sight to see from the ground level, ascending to the top is a grueling, overly-hyped, and, simply, dull endeavor. The outdoor observatory is claustrophobic, the climb to the top is unbearably lengthy, and the view isn’t something to write home about either. I wish I had saved the $40 as well as my valuable time.
