To follow up on my previous piece, Doing Business in the Middle East, I’d like to provide a few more considerations to keep in mind when doing business or socializing with members of the royal family in the Middle East. It is critical to be aware of the procedure that must be followed while engaging with members of the royal family in this extensive caste system. In Doha, Qatar, at the welcoming reception for Prince Charles, Sheikha Mayassa Al Thani, the daughter of the Amir, “the father,” and Sheikha Moza of Qatar gathered at the Islamic Museum for a photo opportunity.
- When conducting business in the region, it is critical to understand the hierarchical structure.
- Take, for example, the House of Saud, which is the governing dynasty of Saudi Arabia, which has thousands of descendants.
- This may be pretty difficult and takes some time to comprehend – not to mention the time it takes to learn how to pronounce each name correctly.
- It doesn’t matter where you stand on the caste system; respect and the right usage of terminology are beneficial to business.

Rashid was one of the several children born to Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. On the 12th of November in the year 1981, he was born. Rashid received his education at the Rashid School for Boys in Dubai. After that, he went on to study at Sandhurst Military Academy in the United Kingdom, where he graduated in 2002. Rashid was not given the title of Crown Prince of Dubai because he was ignored. Acting consul general David Williams said in a classified document issued from theU.S. consulate in Dubai to the United States Department of State, which was leaked by WikiLeaks, that Rashid “killed an assistant in the Ruler’s office, so forfeiting his possibility to be heir.” Crown Prince Hamdan was selected by his father, Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to be his younger brother in 2008.

Sport
Rashid was a well-known sports personality in the United Arab Emirates. He competed in a number of International and localEquestrian Endurancecompetitions, where he took home a number of medals and honors. Among his most notable accomplishments was earning two gold medals in the 120 km Endurance solo mixed and 120 km Endurance team mixed events at the 2006 Asian Games in Jakarta. He was the owner of Zabeel Racing, the stables in Dubai where his horses were trained. Rashid has topped the individual owners’ list an astounding five times, amassing almost 428 victories in the process.
Rashid was named president of the United Arab Emirates Olympic Committee in January 2006, although he resigned from his position later that year.
Death
In the early morning hours of September 19, 2015, Rashid died of a heart attack, according to the state news agency of the United Arab Emirates, WAM. He was 33 years old at the time. Yemeni media said that Rashid was slain by Houthi forces in the Yemeni region of Marib. According to some reports, he was a drug addict as well. On the day of his death, a three-day period of mourning was established in Dubai, and all flags of the United Arab Emirates were flown at half-staff. The funeral prayers were performed at Zabeel Mosque following the Maghrib prayers.

In addition to being the Minister of Finance of the United Arab Emirates, SheikhMaktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum (Arabic: ; born 24 November 1983) also serves as the Deputy Ruler ofDubai and the Chairman of Dubai Media Incorporated, among other positions. He was appointed as deputy ruler in February 2008, following the coronation of his elder brother, Hamdan, as crown prince. In March 2021, he succeeded his uncle SheikhHamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum as deputy ruler, a position he held with the latter until his death.
He was appointed Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister of the United Arab Emirates in September 2021. Dubai Knowledge Park, originally known as Dubai Knowledge Village, was established in 2003 by Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. He also serves as Chairman of the board.
Biography
Maktoum was born on November 24, 1983, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. He is the third son of Dubai’s ruler, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and his wife, Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum. He was born in the United Arab Emirates and raised in Dubai. In contrast to his mother, he is his father’s tenth child and fourth son, making him the third son of a tenth child. The American University in Dubai awarded him a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in 2005 after he finished his high school education at Rashid Private School, which is also located in Dubai.
- In addition to serving as Chairman of Dubai Media Incorporated’s Board of Directors, Sheikh Maktoum also serves as Chairman of the Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone Authority (TECOM Investments).

Appointments
As Chairman of the Dubai Real Estate Corporation, he was appointed to the position in 2017. He was sworn in as the President of the Financial Audit Authority in May of this year (FAA). On May 15, 2021, he was appointed as the Chairman of the Ruler’s Court, the highest court in the land. When Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai, appointed Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to manage the financial markets and stock exchanges in Dubai, he did so in a manner that was unprecedented at the time.
In May 2021, he was appointed as the Chairman of the Court of the Ruler of Dubai, a position he has held since.
The Dubai Culture Authority (DCAA), often known as Dubai Culture, is responsible for the preservation and management of Dubai’s cultural legacy.
Decisions as Minister of Finance
For the purpose of formulating strategy and policy for the Dubai Financial Market, Maktoum established the Dubai Markets Supervisory Committee, which he now heads, in November 2021. In addition, in November 2021, he announced the establishment of the Future District Fund, which would invest AED 1 billion in technological start-ups while also encouraging technology businesses to IPO on the Dubai Financial Market. The Fund had set a goal of establishing 1,000 enterprises within five years of its inception, which it achieved.
During the Hatta Master Development Plan unveiling in October 2021, Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, his father, and three brothers announced their intention to transform the Hatta region into a commercial and tourism destination.
Award
The Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Cambridge ICT Awards, which are based on CambridgeIGCSE, AS Level, and A Level examinations, reward excellent academic accomplishments among students in the United Arab Emirates. In addition, the awards recognize outstanding instructors.

The visit by Prince William marks a significant milestone in relations between the UK and the UAE, a Western-allied Gulf Arab nation ruled by hereditary leaders.

The future king of the United Kingdom, Prince William, started on his first official visit to the United Arab Emirates on Thursday, where he will showcase his commitment to animal conservation and climate change. The visit by Prince William is a watershed moment in the history of ties between the United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates, a Gulf Arab nation aligned with the West and dominated by hereditary rulers. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the son of Dubai’s ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, is set to meet with the prince on his visit to the United Arab Emirates.

Ruler of Dubai ordered to pay record $730M to ex-wife and their kids
In the most expensive divorce settlement in British history, the ruler of Dubai was ordered to pay more than $730 million to his ex-wife, a princess, and their children, according to a British court. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, 72, was ordered in London’s High Court to pay the staggering sum to his sixth wife, Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein — who had become accustomed to “limitless” funding before fleeing their marriage in 2019 after cheating with a bodyguard who blackmailed her. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum was born in the United Arab Emirates and raised in the United Kingdom.
