Customer Reviews
Four stars, based on my previous experience flying with Ethiopian Airlines a number of times, I was prepared for what to expect. Although it came as a nice surprise to see that the A350 was equipped with the current generation of business chairs, which were very standard, concealing the remote control in a closet did not appear to make much sense. When I arrived, despite the fact that only half of the seats were filled at the time, all of the overhead bins were occupied, and several of them were larger than the airline’s maximum allowable size.
I was able to cram my luggage between a large pilots’ case and the wall.
If Ethiopian Airlines wishes to build a reputation as Africa’s best airline, it must strive to emulate best practices.
The cabin crew was uncomfortable, but it was evident that they did not feel confident enough to contradict their pilots.
We were traveling with twin infants and a toddler, and the cabin service was very incompetent in every way. 1 / 10 We were the last people to get off the plane due of our bags, and they just stood there and did nothing to assist us in any way.

6 out of 10 (Based on Trip Verification) Although it is a brand new A350, it is configured in the traditional 2-2-2 C layout. The interior is clean and contemporary, and the seats are comfortable, but with a narrower pitch than the previous 777-200ER aircraft. The crew is pleasant. On certain legs, the service was a little sloppy. Very bad catering (with the exception of excellent beverages): it appears to be Economy class cuisine served in larger servings. It’s a disgrace that this is being served to business class passengers.
There will be no traditional Ethiopian cuisine as there has been in the past on any of the four legs.
The new business lounge at ADD is quite big and offers a nice selection of facilities and food options.

1 out of 10 | Trip Verified| Ethiopian Airlines gave a ticket to me after I made a flight reservation. My acquaintance informed me that this airline had been barred by Dubai from transporting passengers from Uganda because it had transported nine patients with outdated Covid-19 results. I was shocked to learn this. I contacted the airline, and all they had to say was that they didn’t have any flights to Dubai at the time. What was the reason for issuing the tickets? Worst of all, on the day of the trip (17.10.2021), I received an email from the airline stating that the flight had been successful, despite the fact that I had received an email from their airport office stating that the flight would not be successful.

1 out of 10 | Trip Verified| Flight L0JVZZ from Johannesburg to Delhi was cancelled due to Covid 19. I was given vouchers and told that if I cancel my tickets within one year, I would receive a full refund, otherwise a penalty would be deducted. I have had to travel to India twice since then, but have not been able to use the vouchers because the flights are still not operating as a result of Covid 19. Please help. I’ve been requesting a refund for a long time, but za.mytrip.com has failed to honor my request until now.
Simply put, I’m attempting to get my money back.
Both of these firms provide really bad customer service.

1 out of 10 | Trip Verified| Ethiopian Airlines is a carrier that I’ve used a few of times and have been generally pleased. Although not the finest, it is superior than many others. I just traveled from ADD to IAD and had a great time. This was a really unpleasant flight. 1) Water was being served in the cabin by a flight attendant (nice since they confiscated all water bottles before boarding). In the rear of a cabin, I was given a seat. She had run out of water and had abandoned the expedition.
2) The meal and beverage service was definitely the slowest I’ve ever witnessed in my life, and I was there for a long time (out of about 100 trans-Atlantic flights).
In addition to the two flight attendants that were serving, there were two others who were standing about doing absolutely nothing.
In addition to being terrible, the meal was actually inedible.
There is no strategy or organization in place for servicing – none at all. It was a terrible flight. One of the worst flights I’ve ever experienced. The cabin attendant was obnoxious and inattentive beyond belief. If at all possible, avoid flying with this airline.

Trip Verified with a score of 10 / 10 It was a fantastic journey. From Khartoum to Addis Ababa, I flew aboard a Q400 turboprop aircraft. On a two-hour turboprop trip, they offered a hot dinner in economy class. From Addis Ababa to Kilimanjaro (with a brief stopover in Zanzibar without deplaning), I received excellent service and a hot supper on Ethiopian Airlines’ economy class. The boarding procedure was extremely well planned and strictly adhered to (by boarding zone). The A350 aircraft from Addis Ababa to JRO featured a fantastic range of in-flight entertainment options.

1 out of 10 | Trip Verified| My children are stranded in Ethiopia while Ethiopian Airlines continues to delay their next trip out of the country. They informed the youngsters that it was due to bad weather, however there are several planes coming and going without incident, indicating that the weather explanation is a fabrication. It’s been more than 12 hours now! They have now missed their connecting flights, and Ethiopian personnel are refusing to assist them in booking new tickets or paying for new connecting flights with the airline that operated the connecting flights that they missed, despite the fact that they have missed their connecting flights.
Despite the fact that they had delayed the trip for more than 12 hours, they did not even provide the youngsters with a hotel to stay in.

Check-in is hectic due to the lack of queue control. The online check-in feature is never functional. There are no counters for online purchases, and there is no luggage check. Food is spherical, yet it is still edible.

6 out of 10 (Based on Trip Verification) A last-minute seat on Ethiopian Airlines from EBB with an increase in ADD was available because my KQ flight EBB-NBO-JNB had been cancelled. My travel agent had booked this new flight in coach, but I was able to upgrade to business class once I arrived at the airport. It was a hassle because there were no agents on the ground who knew what to do, and it took a long time before someone from ET Reservations answered the phone. It took approximately 35 minutes.
- EBB-ADD had only one business class passenger, and I was that passenger.
- However, the seats were quite comfortable, and in fact, I found the Ethiopian older business class seats to be far more comfortable than the overhyped Polaris service on United Airlines.
- The ET lounge was excellent, with comfortable seating and friendly service.
- Both the business and coach cabins on the ADD-JNB flight were nearly full.
A less-tired version of the 777. Excellent in-flight service. The fact that there was little mask wearing on the flight and that flight attendants made no attempt to enforce masking raised concerns. Both flights were on schedule. All in all, it was a very enjoyable surprise.

Verified Trip Rating: 6 out of 10 A last-minute seat on Ethiopian Airlines from EBB with an increase in ADD was available since my KQ flight EBB-NBO-JNB was canceled. At the airport, I upgraded from coach to business class since my travel agent had scheduled this new ticket for me. Having no agents on the ground who knew what to do made things difficult, and having to speak over the phone with ET reservations to resolve the situation was inconvenient. About 35 minutes were spent on this task.
- My flight EBB-ADD had only one other business class customer, and I was that passenger.
- In terms of comfort, I found Ethiopian’s older business class seats to be significantly more pleasant than United’s over-hyped Polaris service, which I considered to be a disappointment.
- Exceptional service, comfort, and courtesy were provided by the ET lounge.
- Both the business and coach cabins on the ADD-JNB flight were nearly completely occupied.
- It was a pleasure to fly with you.
- Flights 1 and 2 were on schedule.

Omicron flight bans are ‘challenging’, says Ethiopian Airlines CEO
The Ethiopian government anticipates that 2022 will finally be the year in which it returns to pre-COVID levels, at the very least in terms of capacity, following two disastrous years. Image courtesy of Associated Press Dubai: In response to the development of the Omicron strain, governments have implemented limitations on Ethiopian Airlines, Africa’s largest carrier, which has resulted in fewer visitors being transported. “The tourist segment of the travel industry is not returning as quickly as we had anticipated,” remarked Tewolde Gebremariam, CEO of Ethiopian Airlines, addressing the Travel and Connectivity Business Forum at Expo 2020 in Shanghai.
“Last year, the Delta (version) caused significant harm, and now Omicron represents a significant challenge – the (global) reaction has been fragmented and disjointed.” Following reports of the newest variation, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) restricted entrance from Addis Ababa – Ethiopia’s capital city and one of the continent’s busiest aviation hubs – and numerous other African locations last month.
Ethiopian Carriers is operating at 70% of its pre-COVID capacity at a time when the majority of global airlines are battling to achieve the 50% threshold.
According to Gebremariam, “We are ahead of the industry, but we are still well behind pre-COVID levels in all industry criteria.” “The industry is still hurting, and it varies from area to region.”
Full recovery?
The Ethiopian government anticipates that 2022 will finally be the year in which it returns to pre-COVID levels, at the very least in terms of capacity, following two disastrous years. In the words of Ethiopian Airlines’ CEO, “the industry as a whole may achieve 70-80 percent of pre-COVID levels, with Ethiopian Airlines perhaps reaching 100 percent.” “We are already one step ahead of the competition.” During the greatest crisis the aviation industry has ever experienced, the African aviation behemoth has stood out.
As Gebremariam explained, “We are the only airline that has not accepted any bailout money for the crisis – we have handled with our own internal resources.” “We are profitable, and we have not had to lay off any of our workers.” Salary hikes and bonuses have been provided in the actuality.” With airlines resuming flights and reestablishing their networks, industry experts have expressed alarm about the possibility of significant manpower shortages for airlines in the next years.
Gebremariam explained that the “biggest shortfall in the airline sector has always been a pilot scarcity, and to a lesser extent, a dearth of technicians and engineers.” “Those abilities are now readily available because most airlines are still operating at about 50% of their pre-COVID capacity levels,” says the author.
Cargo demand
Even beyond 2022, according to Ethiopian’s CEO, the airline would continue to see robust cargo demand. “We have temporarily switched passenger flights to cargo planes,” he said further. “We have specialized cargo aircraft, bellyhold capacity, and airplanes that have been modified,” Gebremariam explained. “I would expect freight demand to be as robust as it was in 2021,” says the analyst. There is a “clear separation between airlines who are well diversified into cargo and carriers that did not have a strong presence in the market prior to COVID” when it comes to the financial health of airlines, according to him.
Ethiopian Airlines
Ethiopian Airlines is the country’s flag carrier and is wholly controlled by the Ethiopian government. Ethiopian Airlines Announces A New 100 Million Passenger Airport
Ethiopian Airlines intends to expand its fleet from the present 121 aircraft to more than 200 aircraft in the near future. According to the airline’s CEO, Tewolde Gebremariam, the airport would be larger than Dubai International Airport but similar in size to the new Istanbul International Airport (IST). Ethiopian Airlines has been the best-performing airline in Africa for the past many years. In 2019, the airline had an operational profit of $260 million, with a margin of 6.5 percent, making it the most profitable airline in the continent of Africa.
However, in order to accommodate the airline’s development plans through 2050, they determined that a new airport would be required.
