Eid Al Adha expected October 15, 2013
According to a statement released today by the Islamic Crescents Observation Project (ICOP), the first day of the Eid Al Adha celebration is scheduled to fall on Tuesday, October 15, in most Islamic nations, according to the WAM news agency. “The sighting of the crescent should be possible with naked eyes in most regions of the world on Sunday, October 6, 2013, therefore it is predictable that day will be the 1st of Dhu al-Hijjah 1434 AH, and therefore it is expected that the 10th of Dhul al-Hijjah 1434 AH, or Tuesday, October 15, 2013, will be the first day of Eid al-Adha,” the statement said.

UAE announces Eid Al Fitr 2013
ABU DHABI /Eid al Fitr celebrations will begin on Thursday, after confirmation on Wednesday night of the sighting of the new moon, which signaled the end of Ramadan and marked the beginning of the Islamic month of Shawwal. In accordance with Islamic custom, teams are deployed on the 29th day of Ramadan in an attempt to get a sight of the new crescent moon, which signals the start of the festival of Eid al Fitr, which is celebrated on the first day of Ramadan. The moon-sighting commission of the UAE government proclaimed the start of Eid from the Abu Dhabi Judiciary building at about 9 p.m.
On Wednesday, following the maghreb prayer, the committee gathered to assess if Ramadan had come to an end.
This is followed by the Eid prayer, which is generally held outside in a public space.
A chef at a catering firm in Abu Dhabi, Ahmed Dallou, 33, was photographed on the Corniche breakwater near the large flagpole with his buddy and colleague Abdelfattah Abdulmajed, 35, near the giant flagpole.
“It’s the last day of Ramadan, and we’re all looking forward to Eid,” says one of the participants.
According to Mr Dallou, “we will go to the mosque first thing in the morning and then spend the rest of the day with our families and friends.” Some sections of the country will get partly overcast skies today, while others will see mostly clear skies.
According to the NCMS prediction, there will be moderate winds in general, with some strengthening at times. This will result in blowing dust and sand over inside regions, which may cause poor horizontal vision.
