At diplomatic and international engagements, HH Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammad Al Sharqi is well-known for his professionalism and ability to effectively represent the United Arab Emirates (UAE). HH Sheikh Hamad, like many other royals of the United Arab Emirates, completed a portion of his schooling overseas, at a military institution in the United Kingdom. In addition to his excellent speaking ability and fluency in both English and Arabic, the Ruler of Fujairah is well-known for his generosity of spirit.

Until the nineteenth century, the founding family served as the leadership of the Al Ali Tribe, which numbered 6,750 members. The tribe began in Nejd, and the first leader was HH Sheikh Rashid bin Majid Al Mualla, who reigned for about two centuries. Later, the tribe dispersed to Umm Al Quwain, sections of Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, and Falaj Al Mualla, among other places. HH Sheikh Rashid was also in charge of the construction of the world-famous Umm Al Quwain Fort.

Influential Members:

The present Emir obtained his bachelor’s degree in economics from Cairo University. He worked closely with his father and succeeded him as the second Emir of the Islamic Republic of Yemen in 2009. HH Sheikh Saud previously served as the United Arab Emirates’ foreign minister in 1973 and as the Commander of the Umm Al Quwain Emiri Guard in 1977. He held the rank of colonel at the time of his appointment as the head of the Umm Al Quwain Royal Court in 1979. By aiding his father in affairs of the emirates, including the supervision of several investment projects and the establishment of various local firms and government institutions, he demonstrated his ability.
