When it came to horses, the sheikh and his sixth and “junior” wife, Princess Haya bint Al Hussein, the daughter of the late King Hussein of Jordan and half-sister of King Abdullah II, were a match made in heaven.

However, cracks began to develop in the family’s idyllic picture in 2018, when Princess Latifa, one of Sheikh Mohammed’s adult children with another marriage, attempted to leave the UAE with the assistance of a former French spy and a Finnish fitness instructor, according to Princess Haya.

The woman said she had been imprisoned for more than three years and had been subjected to physical torture after attempting another unsuccessful escape attempt in 2002, according to a video shot prior to the trial.

Latifa shot the tape over a period of many months after she was returned to Dubai following her unsuccessful escape attempt in 2018.

In the tapes, she tells how she fought back against the troops who apprehended her before being tranquilized and taken back to her home in Dubai.

She claimed she was being detained without access to medical or legal assistance.

As a result of the 2018 escape attempt, Princess Haya supported the Dubai government’s statements that Latifa had been “susceptible to exploitation” and that she was now “secure.” The couple’s children were with them as they fled Dubai for the United Kingdom through Germany in April 2019.

The dissolution of his marriage elicited no response from Sheikh Mohammed, but he did write a furious poem in which he accused an unidentified lady of “treachery and betrayal,” which he then shared on Instagram.

Sheikh Mohammed, on the other hand, has requested that the children be returned to Dubai.

Shamsa left the family’s estate in Surrey, England, in that year, but was subsequently apprehended in Cambridgeshire by agents of the sheikh and deported to Dubai.

“Sheikh Mohammed [continues to sustain] a system in which both of these young ladies are deprived of their liberty,” the court said.

These included a pistol that was placed on her bedside table.

His appeal was “filed in order to safeguard the best interests and welfare of the children,” and he said that the decision “does not protect my children from public attention in the same manner that other children involved in family processes in the United Kingdom are protected.” “As the head of government, I was unable to participate in the fact-finding process conducted by the court.

Consequently, a “fact-finding” ruling has been issued, which unavoidably only provides one side of the tale, and an appeal has been filed “He went on to say more.

  • From being a postcolonial backwater to being the worldwide financial powerhouse that it is today, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum transformed the city of Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Mohammed was there in 1971 when the British ceded control of the seven emirates, ending 150 years of colonial dominance in the region. As prime minister of the United Arab Emirates and emir of Dubai, he now holds both positions. His personal life has been under scrutiny following the abduction and subsequent arrest of his daughter Princess Latifa, who said she had suffered torture at his hands. Following the revelation that Princess Latifa had escaped from the country, Mohammed’s sixth wife, Princess Haya, departed Dubai for London in June. The following is Sheikh Mohammed’s story: More articles may be found on the Insider homepage.

The end of British control in Dubai was observed by a 22-year-old Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum, who was then royal but not yet king, when the country’s sovereignty was returned to it. He has risen to become the most powerful man in the United Arab Emirates, forty-eight years after his birth. He serves as vice president and prime minister of the United Arab Emirates, as well as the ruler of Dubai, which is one of the world’s most rich and technologically sophisticated cities. Sheikh Mohammed’s personal behavior, on the other hand, has been brought into question following the escape of his daughter Princess Latifa in March 2018 and later of his sixth wife, Princess Haya, in June 2019.

As a child, Mohammed adored horses — a passion he still keeps today —and battled in bareback races with his friends on the sands of Dubai’s Jumeirah Beach.

In 1966, as most future Gulf rulers did, Mohammed spent time in British education. He attended the Bell Educational Trust’s school in Cambridge when he was 17.

Mohammed left Cambridge and completed military training at Mons Officer Cadet School in Aldershot. He passed out with the sword of honor, awarded to the top foreign student.

Aldershot is the location of Mons officer training. Google Maps is a mapping application. Mohammed then flew to Italy to pursue pilot training, which he completed shortly after. The following is what Mohammed said about his training: “I made a promise to myself that I would not return to Dubai until I was physically, intellectually, and militarily equipped to handle everything.” “My Story, Dubai: The Making of a Megapolis” is the source of this information.

His military training was cut short, though, when his father called him home and made him the head of Dubai’s police in November 1968.

During Mohammed’s early years in the 1960s, the United Arab Emirates we know today did not exist; it was a British protectorate of seven sheikdoms called the “Trucial States.”

In 1979, Sheikh Mohammed married Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum, his first wife, with whom he has had 12 children. Sheikh Mohammed has 23 children in total from six wives.

In 2013, Sheikh Mohammed was present at the Dubai World Cup, which was held at the Meydan Racecourse in Dubai.

Reuters Sheikha Hind is also Sheikh Mohammed’s cousin, which is a rare combination. One of the couple’s six children is the heir to the throne of Great Britain. The crown prince of Dubai, Hamdan bin Mohammed al-Maktoum, was born in 1982 and is the son of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed al-Maktoum.

In the 1970s all of the newly independent emirates were keen to modernize as fast as possible, using cash made from their rich oil fields.
