History

This project, which is owned by The Emirates Group, was initially supposed to be a single 350 m (1,150 ft) tall, 77-story building that would be finished in 2008 and located near Sheikh Zayed Road in Abu Dhabi. However, due to the building of a creek extension as part of the Business Baymegaproject, the design and position of the structure had to be altered. The revised twin-tower design was shown during the Arab Travel Market in Dubai in 2006, with towers rising to a height of 395 meters (1296 feet).

  1. In April 2010, the concrete structural frames of both buildings were completed to their full height.
  2. Following its completion in 2012, the structures surpassed the Rotana Rose Rayhaan Hotel in terms of height, becoming the world’s highest hotel.
  3. ft) spa and health club, as well as retail outlets, a swimming pool and an exercise facility.
  4. Finished in November 2012, the twin buildings with 2B+G+82 stories each were finished.
  5. The date palm served as inspiration for the design.
  6. The podium is home to all of the public spaces, restaurants, function hall, and back of house facilities.
  7. The dinner hall, which can accommodate 1000 people, has its own entrance.

The podium terrace, which includes one of the largest spas in Dubai as well as plants and a swimming pool, is beautifully planted. The J W Marriott Marquis was created by architect Ashok Korgaonkar, the founder and chief architect of Archgroup International Consultants in New York City.

JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai Tower 1

A twin-tower hotel complex situated on a “L”-shaped block of land in Dubai between Sheikh Zayed Road to the west and Business Bay to the east, the Emirates Park Towers are a popular destination for visitors to the city. This land will be next to a projected extension of the Dubai Creek, which will include a waterside promenade on the south side of the creek. The date palm, which is a well-known icon of Arab culture, served as inspiration for the architecture of Emirates Park Towers. Because of the faceted look of the tree’s trunk, the design of the guest levels is faceted as well.

  • In this case, the structure itself resembles a distorted form, which is an example of Expressionist architectural design.
  • The lateral load resisting systems are formed by connecting the central core and external shear walls with outriggers to form a single unit.
  • The towers are designed to be orientated in a way that minimizes peak heat load and wind pressure, and they are equipped with vertical fins that serve as shading devices.
  • The off-axis orientation of the towers, as well as the location of the hotel rooms on the periphery of the complex, maximizes guests’ access to views of the surrounding environment, which includes the Arabian Gulf, Safa Park, and the Burj Kalifa.

The podium serves as a hub of activity for the towers, including 18 restaurants and bars, a large business center with conference halls and meeting rooms, a banquet hall, a spa and health club, as well as retail stores, a swimming pool, and a gymnasium, among other amenities.

JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai Review: What To REALLY Expect If You Stay

The JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai is a premium hotel that used to be renowned as the world’s highest hotel when it was built. The Business Bay location has nothing to offer in terms of amenities within walking distance, however the hotel does provide a complimentary shuttle to Dubai Mall. The 1,608 rooms are modern and trendy, and have soaking tubs, flat-screen televisions, and complimentary Wi-Fi. There are plenty of amenities, including 18 restaurants, bars, and nightclubs, a 15-room spa, 32 conference rooms, and a large ballroom, to name a few.

The broad selection of dishes at the breakfast buffet (which is not included in all accommodation prices) has earned the hotel widespread praise.

There is also a beautiful rooftop swimming pool as well as a contemporary 24-hour fitness facility on the premises. A calmer luxury hotel with similar qualities is The Oberoi, Dubai, which may be booked as an alternative. More information may be found here. The bottom line is as follows:

Scene

It was originally known as the world’s highest hotel, the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai, and it is a luxury hotel. In terms of amenities, Business Bay is lacking, yet the hotel offers a complimentary shuttle service to Dubai Mall and other attractions. There are plenty of amenities, such as 18 restaurants, cafes, and nightclubs, a 15-room spa, 32 conference rooms, and a big ballroom, among others.

A more tranquil luxury hotel with similar characteristics is The Oberoi, Dubai, which is a short drive away.

Location

Dubai’s JW Marriott Marquis Hotel is located in the Business Bay neighborhood, immediately across the street from the new Dubai Water Canal expansion. The nearby neighborhood, except from a walk along the canal, is not pedestrian-friendly; there is a lot of construction and not much within walking distance of where you are. A free shuttle service to Dubai Mall is available 24 hours a day, and it takes around 10 minutes. The Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest structure, as well as the Dubai Opera and the Dubai Fountains, are located just adjacent to the mall.

A 20-minute drive from the hotel will take you to the Mall of the Emirates, while JBR Beach will take you 30 minutes or less, depending on traffic.

In less than 15 minutes by vehicle, or 40 minutes on the metro, you will be at Dubai International Airport (DXB).

JW Marriott Marquis hotel design

The hotel is comprised of two buildings with a combined height of 72 stories and a total floor space of 3.75 million square feet. In the postmodern architectural style, the two towers are designed to seem like the trunk of a date palm tree, which was the inspiration for the design. All of the public portions of the hotel, such as the restaurants and function hall, are located on a seven-story pedestal that connects the two towers. Swimmable pools and a grassy area may be found on the podium’s terrace.

Construction of Marriott International’s new hotel

Construction on the hotel began in February 2008, with the first tower finished in January 2012 and the second tower opening in April 2014. The hotel opened its doors to guests in April 2014. The two towers are supported by a single 3.9m-thick raft that is placed atop 1.2m-diameter piles to provide additional strength. Each tower has an oval-shaped center core, which is supported by internal lift and staircase walls, which offer structural stability.

The podium is supported by two reinforced concrete columns measuring 1.6m by 2.5m. The post-tensioned beams that support the podium slabs provide structural stability.

Facade of the tallest hotel building in the world

The high-performance glass brands Nano and COOL-LITE were provided by Saint-Gobain Glass India for the construction of the skyscraper. The Nano glass is employed as the building’s viewing glass, while COOL-LITE is placed on the building’s external walls to keep it cool.

In terms of light transmission capacity, the Nano glass offers a 35 percent transmission capacity and a minimal internal reflection.

JW Marriott Marquis Dubai, UAE – Hotel Review

When you first arrived, how did you feel? As the world’s tallest hotel, the JW Marriott Marquis Dubai is housed among two landmark buildings along Dubai’s Business Bay, earning it the title of “World’s Tallest Hotel.” It has a frantic, clubby lobby—usually it’s full, and there are occasionally long lines for check-in—but tea and fresh dates make up for the small inconvenience. Nice. What is the vibe of the audience like? Many leisure tourists from India, as well as many Americans who are committed to the JW Marriott brand, stay at the JW Marriott.

  1. All of the rooms feature floor-to-ceiling windows that provide spectacular views.
  2. The televisions are concealed under elegant wood cabinets.
  3. They’ve got us, haven’t they?
  4. For example, what about the little things, such as a mini bar or shower goodies?
  5. Dates are served as a surprise at the end of the night in place of the usual chocolates.
  6. Please assure us that the restroom will not let us down.
  7. The use of Aromatherapy Associates products adds to the overall opulent atmosphere.

What exactly is the word?

Joining Marriott Rewards, on the other hand, will save you from the snag.

Room service is expensive, but it is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week and offers a large selection.

Everything from daycare to gyms to spa treatments to parking is something that has remained with you.

What was the most memorable (or heartbreaking) aspect of your stay?

It’s worth it to spend the extra money on a seaview hotel simply to sit at the window and take it all in.

The gorgeous suites, breathtaking views, and a variety of eating options make this a fantastic deal.

Review: JW Marriott Marquis Dubai, The World’s Tallest Hotel

In November 2015, I stayed at the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, for three days and nights. The hotel, which stands at 1,165.84 feet tall, has been certified by Guinness World Records as the world’s highest structure. It is located in the city’s Business Bay District, little over a mile away from the Burj Khalifa and a short walk from the Dubai Mall. In the immediate vicinity of the hotel, there isn’t much to do; nevertheless, the Business Bay Dubai Metro station is only a one-stop ride away from the Dubai Mall.

  • I enjoy using my reward points to book stays at hotels that I would not otherwise be willing to pay for.
  • It is essential to make a reservation in advance.
  • You may be able to save even more money by taking advantage of special discounts and promotions provided by Marriott Hotels.
  • Throughout this blog post, I’ll discuss the wheelchair-accessible aspects of the hotel and the accommodations I received, as well as my overall experience while staying there.

Location

It is not recommended that you stay at the JW Marriott Marquis if you want to be close to restaurants and shopping. If you want to be physically active in the city and are not frightened of using the metro, the location and property will make you extremely pleased, as will the surrounding neighborhood. I would highly propose that you eat supper at one of the many fantastic restaurants located within the hotel. Located within walking distance of the Business Bay metro station, which is served by the red line, the JW Marriott is a great choice for business travelers.

When I got to the metro station, I rolled most of the 1 kilometer (just over half a mile) on the sidewalk, assisted by my electric wheelchair.

Curb cuts, pedestrian signals, and a well defined crossing are all present at the only significant crossroads in the area.

You’ll be spending more time on the roadway since construction zones have closed numerous sidewalks, and many of those that remain are not equipped with curb cut. More information on these difficulties may be found in the article “Roll-ability” of Sidewalks and Streets in Dubai.

HotelRoom Accessibility

I arrived at the hotel in the early evening after taking a wheelchair accessible cab from Abu Dhabi to the location. Several revolving doors were installed in the front entrance area, in addition to manual doors. A bellman, who also happened to be called John, unlocked the manual doors and took me to the check-in counter. The foyer is exceptionally vast and wide. Several check-in counters are positioned around the back wall of the building. My check-in was guided to the Executive Lounge as a result of my Marriott reward program membership status.

  1. In order to accommodate my needs, I had reserved an ordinary room with a roll-in shower.
  2. My room was on the seventh floor, in Tower A, room A-701.
  3. Access to the chamber is obtained by the use of a touch keypad.
  4. It opened up and entered the room.
  5. Despite this, I was able to complete it on my own, but with some difficulty.
  6. The room was furnished with a king-sized bed.
  7. As you can see in the photos above, it was perched fairly high on the wall.

Additionally, this remote controlled other aspects of the space, such as the air conditioning system.

As you can see, there was plenty of room for me to maneuver in my wheelchair around the room.

From the hotel, I was able to borrow a power converter, which enabled me to securely convert the higher energy voltage and charge my wheelchair.

Leaving with the gadget would have resulted in a charge to my credit card of 300 AED ($80 USD), which would have been deducted from my account.

The electrical outlets that were close to the bed were hidden behind the nightstand and were difficult to reach.

The sink is seen above, and I was able to slide beneath it with my wheelchair without difficulty.

The two bottles of drinking water were provided free of charge and were refreshed on a daily basis by the housekeeping staff.

However, even though my enormous power chair couldn’t fit immediately next to the toilet, it was still functional.

When installing a bidet shower (sometimes known as a “bum gun” or “butt hose,” the bidet shower should be located adjacent to and within reach of the toilet.

Grab bars were installed on two of the walls around the room.

On the ceiling, there was also a rain shower that was available for guests to take use of.

While I like having access to a roll-in shower on a regular basis, the design of this specific shower was quite inadequate.

For many of us, that’s a recipe for disaster waiting to occur.

It is my hope that an alteration may be made to the design of the shower once I have communicated with the hotel about it.

If you have help in the shower, this may not seem like a huge issue to you, but as a triple amputee, it was a major deal to me. Alternatively, if you bring your own portable shower chair, the built-in shower seat may be folded down.

The Executive Lounge

On the 37th level of the hotel is an executive lounge with a view of the city. However, while I was granted complimentary admission to the lounge as a result of my frequent flyer status, customers may pay an additional fee to upgrade to an executive level room that includes lounge access. Every morning, the lounge provides a complimentary breakfast buffet, which is stocked with a variety of delectable options. Omelettes will be prepared at your request by a chef. Food and beverages are offered throughout the day, including an extended length of time for afternoon tea.

to 8:30 p.m., as well as a selection of delectable hors d’oeuvres.

An additional perk of the lounge is the presence of agents who can answer your inquiries about Dubai and link you with the concierge to make bookings for meals and activities both within the hotel and around the city.

It is not necessary to return to your room to use the bathrooms because there are wheelchair accessible restrooms in the lounge.

The Pool Deck

A swimming pool may be found on the rooftop of the mezzanine level of the hotel. It is an excellent site to spend an evening watching the Dubai cityscape, despite the fact that there is no accessible elevator or hoist to get to the pool. In the distance, the Burj Khalifa can be clearly seen rising over the city. The outside bar, which is positioned adjacent to the pool and is open till late, is also open late. I think it’s worth taking a look at!

The Vault Bar

The Vault, a bar that occupies the top two floors of the hotel’s Tower A, was a great place to spend some time after work. The drinks are expensive, but the vistas are breathtaking. Because my accommodation in the world’s highest hotel was only on the 7th level, I was allowed to take the elevator to the top floor and sit at the bar at the top. Casual clothes is OK, but avoid wearing shorts or t-shirts since you will seem and feel out of place.

It is certified as the world’s tallest hotel.

Conclusion

I couldn’t find anything wrong with the room except for the design of the roll-in shower, which I found to be a little odd. From the top to the bottom, the hotel’s personnel provides an exceptional level of service. The rooms were really comfortable and up to date. It is strongly recommended that you stay at the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel in Dubai if you have the financial means (or points).

You’re not likely to be dissatisfied with this purchase. In terms of grading the property, I’d give it a “B+” – but only because of the shower design and the absence of sidewalk access between the hotel and the metro stop.

Review: The JW Marriott Marquis Dubai (Junior Suite)

It was my pleasure to spend five nights at the JW Marriott Marquis in New York City last week, and I must say that it is one of the more remarkable Marriott hotels I have seen in recent years. Dubai is known for boasting about “the world’s biggest this” and “the world’s tallest that,” and this project does not disappoint in this respect. The JW Marriott Marquis is the world’s tallest hotel, and it presently holds the title of the world’s tallest building. According to Wikipedia, the following is the list.

As theKrish Square Tower in Colombo, Sri Lankais being constructed at the moment, it may not be able to maintain its title for long.

The hotel is comprised of two buildings with a combined height of 77 stories.

While in his room, I was able to get a really impressive vertical panorama of Tower B, which you can see here (first pic of the post).

I believe it represents some of my best work:-).

The lobby is quite elegant, and they had it beautifully decorated for the national holiday in the United Arab Emirates.

The check-in process was straightforward, and the sheer number of workstations indicates that this is a very large establishment.

Woohoo!

Although it is quite simple to move between the towers, it is worth noting that both the Executive Lounge and the fitness facility are located on Tower A.

In the event that this is their definition of a junior suite, I would be interested in seeing what some of their regular suites look like.

Walking straight through the door led to a bar on the left and a huge table with four chairs on the right side of the room.

The TV is supported by a separating wall, and sliding doors were located on both sides of the wall.

The bedroom was lovely, the bed was comfortable, and there was a giant HDTV in the room as well as a desk.

It was always a pleasure to be able to see the Burj Khalifa from our accommodation, which was a pleasant surprise.

Hehe, Laszlo, I’m so sorry!

Aside from the his and her sinks and a freestanding tub, a rain shower and a toilet were also provided.

As previously said, we landed at the airport shortly before lunchtime, and when I’m struggling with jet lag, the first thing I prefer to do is go for a little jog at the gym to wake myself up.

Katy, on the other hand, made the decision to take a sleep in order to overcome her jetlag:-).

As you can see, it’s quite a substantial piece of work.

Free weights, rowing machines, and a few more items may be found towards the far end of the room.

As a matter of fact, when my girlfriend and I searched for the greatest rowers on Homenkitchenstuff, we discovered that the top model listed there was actually the same type that they had five rowing machines of in this gym.

LifeFitness is my preferred brand of treadmill, but Precor also produces high-quality equipment.

I was able to complete my workout.

We made the decision to pay a visit to the Dubai Mall.

It seemed like a wonderful idea to visit the world’s largest shopping mall!

Even though there isn’t much around that can be reached on foot, the Dubai Metro station is only approximately a 5-minute walk away.

It’s also worth mentioning that the JW offers a complimentary shuttle service to and from the Dubai Mall, which operates every half hour.

When it comes to location, it’s important to note that this hotel is located in the Business Bay neighborhood of Dubai.

This is the same motorway that runs all the way from Dubai to Abu Dhabi and beyond (which is about a 90 minute drive).

The Dubai Creek neighborhood, which is located in the northernmost section of the city, contains a number of historical sites and ancient marketplaces.

Because Business Bay is smack dab in the heart of everything, I believe the hotel has nailed the site, especially given its proximity to the metro.

Perhaps this will change in the future because there is a lot of development going on in the surrounding area of this property?

I had read online that the lounge was open 24 hours a day, and I was interested to see what they have to offer.

The whole 37th story of Tower A is dedicated to it.

However, the major offerings are breakfast, afternoon tea, hefty appetizer, and sweet snacks.

When traveling in Dubai, it’s comforting to know that you may at the very least have a short snack in the lounge when necessary.

The lounge at the Sheraton on the Park in Sydney was fantastic, but the JW Marquis in Dubai is still the best in the world in my opinion.

We had a wonderful breakfast in the lounge.

It was my favorite area to sit since it had a view of the Burj Al Arab, which was where we would later go for High Tea.

I really like how spacious the lounge was, as well as the diversity of sitting options.

It had enough food for you to be able to create a dinner out of it if you so desired.

The following are a few photos of some of the various possibilities available there.

The gym was just fantastic.

What more could you possibly ask for?

Because we were leaving Dubai for Thailand shortly after, we went down to the property’s pool to take a look, but we didn’t actually utilize it because we were too busy planning our trip to Thailand after that.

If you’re staying at the JW Marriott Marquis, this pool will more than suffice to keep you cool, allow you to take a swim, relax, and have a great time.

The hotel boasts several restaurants, at least five of which we visited for supper.

We decided to eat at Nawwara, an Arabic restaurant in New York City.

In retrospect, it’s kind of amusing.

But by the time I left Dubai, I don’t think there was a single day that went by when I didn’t at the very least eat hummus, and I definitely had enough of regional food before we left.

It was the ideal complement to our entire travel experience.

I can’t say enough about how nice the room was, and how kind the staff was. There are a LOT of hotels in Dubai from chains that I am familiar with, but I know that if I return to that city, I will be staying in the world’s tallest hotel, the Burj Al Arab.
