As a visitor in the UAE, you should always strive to dress respectfully; nevertheless, religious structures need an especially high level of observance, not just in terms of what you wear but also in terms of how you behave.

These outfits are ideal for visiting a government institution or a religious site, such as a mosque, for visitors. The anabaya is the outer black robe garment, and the headscarf is referred to as a hijab, khimar, orsheila. In the photographs above, I’m really on a day triptour of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi, where it is absolutely necessary to have your entire body covered from head to toe, as well as your hair covered for women.

  • Nudity, thong bottoms, skimpy or see-through swimwear, and especially obscene swimwear are prohibited.

See what I’ve worn to Dubai’s beaches and beach clubs in the gallery below. Ladies’ Day at the Palazzo Versace in the Financial District You must remember that this is only applicable on the beach and in designated pool and beach club sections; I recommend covering up once again once you are back in the general public. I’m bringing my boyfriend, and I’m wondering what he should wear in Dubai. In Dubai, expats can get away with practically anything they choose to wear. I realize this is unfair.

What should a woman bring with her for a week in Dubai?

My recommendation is as follows: There will be three swimsuits and four outfits for photography. There will be four bottoms (1 trousers, 1 short and one skirt) and six shirts and one sweater. There will be four sets of shoes (1 heels, 1 sneakers, 1 fashion sandals, 1 walking sandals)

Clubbing in Dubai: no hijab required!

The nightlife is one of the places when modesty norms are most often flouted. Because there is a low likelihood that orthodox Muslim women and men will be present at a club, there is also a low likelihood that wardrobe restrictions will apply. Crop-tops, skirts, and form-fitting dresses are all appropriate attire in Dubai’s nightclubs and nightlife venues.

What should I wear on a Dubai safari?

While there aren’t many restrictions in terms of modesty, you should take into consideration the heat, the sand, and the gorgeous photographs you’ll want to take while dressed for a safari. I always propose the following:

  • Palazzo pants or capris that are loose-fitting
  • Shoes with a tight toe (for adventure activities, but also because the sand is quite hot)
  • Clothing with a bold pattern or color to stand out against the sandy background makes for excellent photographs.

How to dress in the other emirates: outfit ideas for Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, Ras Al Khaimah, Ajman, and Umm Al Quwain

Emirates such as Sharjah and Abu Dhabi are close neighbors to Dubai, and they are the other two most visited emirates in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). If you’re planning a day trip to either emirate, you should be aware that both are considerably more conservative than the UAE capital of Dubai. Despite the fact that I would never dress in a disrespectful manner in Dubai, I would be much more modest in the other aspects of the country. In these emirates, you should also be cautious about excessive contact with males, cursing, or making any other vulgar gestures.

The dress code in Abu Dhabi appears to be the same as it is in Dubai.

Abu Dhabi is a little more traditional than Dubai in terms of architecture.

What is the weather like in Dubai?

Warm! Some have compared it to being as hot as the pits of hell, and I can’t really argue with them. In Dubai, the weather is usually sunny–to the point that they have to generate their own fake rainfall via cloud seeding! As a result, you’ll at the very least be aware when it’s raining. The warmest summer days may reach temperatures of 115 degrees Fahrenheit. The average temperature in the spring and fall is between 70°F and 90°F. The coldest temperature I’ve ever experienced was approximately 65°F during the day, which was comfortable enough to wear a sweater and jeans in.

The air conditioning system of the hotel Do you require warm clothing when in Dubai?

During the winter, especially in heavily air-conditioned buildings, particularly at night while out in the desert, Dubai may be rather chilly.

What should you wear in Dubai during the winter?

However, a long sleeved shirt, pants, and perhaps a light jacket would suffice in this situation. I recall spending Christmas Day in a swimsuit on Jumeirah Beach in Abu Dhabi. It doesn’t get too chilly here at all!

Due to the constant sunshine in Dubai, they are forced to generate their own fake rainfall through the use of cloud seeding technology. In that case, you’ll at the very least be aware when it’s pouring outside! 115°F is the maximum temperature recorded on some of the warmest days of the summer. Spring and Fall weather typically ranges between 70°F and 90°F on a temperature scale.

  • Rather than the outdoor temperature, the most challenging aspect of clothing in Dubai is the temperature inside your home.

Simple tips for visiting women toalwaysdress appropriately in Dubai:

  • Consider if this site is more suited to ex-pats or to residents of the area. View the place on Instagram and see what other people have worn while visiting the location
  • When in doubt, opt with a more conservative ensemble. If you’re going to a new place for the first time, you can carry an extra set of clothes if you really want to. Eventually, you’ll get more adept at figuring things out on your own
  • Always remember to have a scarf with you when you go out. Never leave home without one tucked away in your suitcase in case your plans change or anything else occurs and you are not adequately protected. It’s come in handy more than once
  • Every location in Dubai is a photo opportunity. Always. So, even if you’re just here for a few days and want some excellent shots, always try to put in a little additional effort in terms of accessories or style to ensure that you’re never caught in a photo on a bad day.

It is hoped that you now have a better understanding of what you should pack for your next vacation to Dubai. If this is not the case, do not be concerned. Things to Know Before You Go to the UAE

Having booked your much-anticipated vacation to Dubai, the moment has come to pack your bag with the items you want to wear while on your adventure. You’re still gazing at your bag half an hour later, thinking to yourself, ‘what can I actually wear in Dubai?’ All of us, including me, have experienced this. Many considerations come into play while traveling to the United Arab Emirates (particularly Dubai and Abu Dhabi): it is in the Middle East, with a different culture and religion, as well as blistering temperatures for much of the year.

But don’t worry, we’ve got you covered with this article. Learn more about what to dress in Dubai and Abu Dhabi by continuing reading this article!

What is the Traditional Dress in Dubai and Abu Dhabi?

Although foreign guests are not encouraged to dress in traditional attire, I thought I’d include this information for the benefit of anyone who might be interested. In one of the malls in Dubai or Abu Dhabi, you’re likely to encounter some of the local ladies dressed in anabayas, which are all-black robes with a white abaya on top. Make no mistake about it, they are doing this mostly because they want to, not because they have to. The traditional clothing is not mandated by law in any way. They are worn with black sheilahs, which cover the head and hair but leave the face exposed, as is customary in Islam.

In their trendy dark shades and the most recent Chanel purse, they exude elegance and refinement while maintaining a mysterious air about them, leaving an irresistible trail of oud smell in their wake.

And if you want to look like a native, you may certainly do so!

When is the Best Time to Visit Dubai and Abu Dhabi?

Let’s chat about the weather. Despite the fact that both Dubai and Abu Dhabi enjoy nearly year-round sunshine, there are specific months when I would not recommend traveling due to the extreme heat.

Summer in DubaiAbu Dhabi (mid-May to early September):

Temperatures are blistering (imagine between 38°C and 42°C/101°F and 108°F), and it’s just too hot to sit outside or lay on a deck chair. Fortunately, there are some shaded areas nearby. I’m guilty of having visited the region twice for my birthday at the end of May, and after each trip, I vow to myself that I’ll never go back. but I never seem to learn my lesson.

Winter in DubaiAbu Dhabi (December, January, February):

Winter is defined as the period between December and February, although, in contrast to Europe, the weather is nice throughout this period, with the rare storm. However, the greatest time to visit Dubai and Abu Dhabi is between October and March or April, with my personal favourite being the end of November and beginning of December, depending on your preferences. You should visit not just because the weather in Dubai and Abu Dhabi is wonderful at this time of year, and the sea temperature is warm from the summer months, but also because you can attend the Formula One Grand Prix while you are there (which is a whole other essay in itself!).

In fact, even in the ‘coldest’ months of the year—January and February—you can anticipate pleasant weather, with lows of roughly 12 degrees Celsius/54 degrees Fahrenheit and highs of 24 degrees Celsius/75 degrees Fahrenheit.

Dubai and Abu Dhabi Dress Code

Before I put together some outfit inspiration for all of the many sorts of places you could visit, I thought it would be helpful to answer some of the most often asked questions that I’ve seen posed in forums and on social media platforms. What was one of the most often asked questions I came across? Things like: ‘how conservative should you dress in Dubai?’, ‘may I wear shorts or dresses?’, ‘can I wear torn jeans?’, and’should I just bring loose fitting apparel and long-sleeved shirts?’ are all valid questions.

  • When it comes to fashion, Abu Dhabi, and particularly Dubai, are rather liberal and cosmopolitan, but that doesn’t mean tourists should take advantage of this by donning hot pants and crop tops in public.
  • It is permissible to dress in summer dresses and shorts, but only if they are elegant and polite in nature.
  • Shorts should be of a respectable length, but they should not be too short or too long.
  • Culottes and other longer shorts are also acceptable.

Crop tops are also OK IF they are worn with high-waisted jeans, but they should not be worn if they expose your stomach. Just keep in mind to be tasteful, refined, and courteous. Consider this: would you be comfortable going out with your coworkers dressed in this manner?

What NOT to Pack for the UAE

Listed below is a list of items that you should usually have at home:

  • Hot pants or short shorts
  • Brazilian bikini bottoms (more on this later)
  • Bodycon dresses
  • Hot pants or short shorts
  • Jeans with very low-cut waists (especially when they display itsy-bitsy underpants beneath them)
  • Miniskirts that are too short to be called miniskirts
  • Basically, anything that is translucent or thin enough to display your undergarments V-neck blouses, plunging necklines, and anything else that displays cleavage are all acceptable.

Hot pants or short shorts; Brazilian bikini bottoms (more on this later); Bodycon skirts; Hot pants or short shorts Jeans with very low-cut waists (especially when they display itsy-bitsy underpants); Miniskirts that are too short to be considered. Anything that is translucent or thin enough to display your undergarments. V-neck blouses, plunging necklines, and anything else that displays cleavage are all acceptable options.

What to Wear in Dubai and Abu Dhabi

Starting with some wardrobe inspiration for the areas where you’re most likely to spend the majority of your time: hotels, restaurants, and shopping malls, to name a few. Along with that, I’ve put up some adorable clothes for two destinations that everyone should visit: the Burj Khalifa and the Burj al Arab. Culottes and a puff-sleeved shirt are the perfect combination for a trip to the malls while appearing stylish. Because of the loose attire, you can wander about feeling comfortable despite the hot heat, while also maintaining cultural sensitivity.

  • When it comes to being comfortable and beautiful, this type of attire is ideal for strolling around Dubai Mall, as well as for breakfast, brunch, or lunch.
  • Because of the high temperatures outdoors, air conditioning is turned on in every building in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, even bus stations.
  • Don’t forget to bring a bag that is large enough for you to be able to carry everything around with you.
  • These are well-known landmarks such as the Burj Khalifa (the world’s tallest structure) and the Burj al Arab (the world’s largest hotel) (a 5-star deluxe hotel).

Burj Khalifa Dress Code

If you’re on Instagram, you’ve definitely noticed a lot of photos shot from the top of the Burj Khalifa, and with good reason. In any case, it’s the world’s tallest skyscraper, with an incredible perspective from the 148th story, which is pretty amazing. Ticket costs fluctuate, but as of 2020, they are around $41 per person, or approximately $61 per person if you travel between the hours of 4pm and 6pm. For those who have paid the extra for tickets to come around sunset, this is the ideal opportunity to dress up in something glittery and take some stunning photographs before walking down to the At.Mosphere restaurant on the 122nd floor for supper.

Trainers, hats, t-shirts, sports apparel, shorts, open shoes for men, and flip-flops for women are among the dress items that are prohibited at the airport. Pink bag, tan shoes, and an embellished dress

Burj al Arab Dress Code

TheBurj al Arabhas earned the distinction of being the world’s only seven-star hotel, which is very appropriate. Despite the fact that there is no official 7-star classification in the conventional grading system, the Burj al Arab was regarded to be so sumptuous that it must be considered a 7-star establishment. And, of course, an equally exquisite attire is required for such a stunning venue. When it comes to the hotels, you can get away with a bit more than you may feel like wearing in the city, so if you have that summer dress you’ve been dying to wear, the Burj al Arab is the place to do so.

A word of caution: a “7-star” hotel is not inexpensive.

What to Wear to Beaches, Swimming Pools and Water Parks

In addition, one of the most often asked inquiries I receive is, “Can I wear a bikini on a beach in Dubai?” and the answer is affirmative! At your hotel pool or on the beaches of Dubai, you are more than welcome to wear a bikini. Just a few things to keep in mind: beachwear and bikinis should be kept on the beach, not on promenades, in cafés, or when sitting on park benches. In addition, flip flops are allowed, although it is better not to wear them around malls or to restaurants, mostly for reasons of comfort.

Having a fashionable kaftan that you can drape over your bikini and go to lunch at your hotel’s seaside café is essential.

What to Wear to a Mosque in Dubai and Abu Dhabi

Needless to say, mosques have a more stringent guest code, which should be followed by all visitors to the mosque. Both men and women must have their arms and legs covered all the way down to their ankles. Clothes should be flowy and opaque—nothing too sheer or see-through is recommended. I would also recommend choosing a simple design that does not include any slogans or logos. Female guests are likewise expected to cover their hair while entering the building. Some mosques may even give the abaya, and the majority of them will provide the headscarf, as well.

It’s a good idea to have it along in case something happens.

In addition, it is important to note that you must remove your shoes before to entering the mosque.

What to Wear to a Dubai Desert Safari

The greatest desert safaris in Dubai are those in the Arabian Desert. (However, because they are markedly different from those in Kenya or other areas of the world, the clothing you wear on safari will be quite different as well.) It’s a complete day where you get to act like a kid again while participating in adult-oriented activities. You will get the opportunity to participate in activities ranging from dune bashing to camel riding before spending the night at a desert campground.

The most lovely moment for me occurred after the sun had set. We sat on the blankets, gazing at the stars, with only the noises of the desert to interrupt our tranquility.

Dubai Desert Safari Outfit Ideas

When going on a desert safari, you should dress in clothes that is both comfortable and loose-fitting. You can certainly wear a skirt, but I’m not sure how sensible it would be to do so while riding a camel or a quad bike, for example. Due to the fact that you will be around 45 minutes outside of town and surrounded primarily by tourists, the rules are a little more lenient as well. Shorts and thin strap shirts are appropriate attire in this establishment. Also, you might want to think about wearing sandals rather than socks and shoes if you want to be more comfortable.

Additionally, I’ve included a little belt bag, which is more comfortable than a traditional purse, as well as a sweatshirt in case it becomes a bit cool when the sun sets.

The wide-brim hat of my dreams couldn’t be avoided, but I fully understand that it is excessively AF– or, as my husband called it,’more like excessively wtf’.

Abu Dhabi Day Trip From Dubai

If you have a day to spare, I highly recommend taking a journey out to Abu Dhabi to see all it has to offer. Beyond the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, there is a lot to see and do, and you may see it all in a day. Some of the highlights include:

  • The Louvre Abu Dhabi, Qasr Al Watan (the Presidential residence), Qasr Al Hosn (the oldest stone edifice in the city of Abu Dhabi), and the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque are all worth seeing. At the Emirates Palace (an ultra-luxurious hotel where you can discover bizarre items like a gold ATM), you can have tea. While there last year, I was fortunate enough to discover that each of the rooms had access to gold-infused water (no, I am not lying
  • This is true)
  • Yas Island, Ferrari World, the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi, and Qasr Al Sarab are just a few of the attractions.

. and a whole lot more. As a matter of fact, every time I visit, I fly into and stay in Abu Dhabi, and then take a day excursion to Dubai. I hope this has answered any queries you may have had regarding what to bring to Dubai or Abu Dhabi for your trip. Believe me when I tell that it is one of my absolute favorite places on the planet, and I would suggest it to anybody looking for leisure and sunlight in a multicultural and active environment—both for business and pleasure.
